Great little dive bar ..great open mic on Wednesday and three live acts on Thursday with a happy hour on Friday which also has live music .. I am a musician and played there Thursday and had the pleasure of meeting the owner ..What a great dude!! Music is such a huge part of the Philly dive bar scene and it seems to be dying but thank god for places like JRs that car about tradition and costumer service ..I mean this guy really loves his patrons he knew them all by name the bartender is the sweetest girl you’d ever want to meet so nice and a great bartender ..this place is the epitome of a great dive bar with great music and atmosphere..I guess ya gotta be doin something right to be in buisness for over 40 years … thoroughly enjoy myself every time I’m in there weather I’m playing or just there supporting another musician.Gary runs the music a great musician in his own right and is always looking to give a fellow musician a shot at JRs if your a musician and looking for a gig or a good open mic that is a great place to start or if you just wanna get a drink and feel like you are where you belong then this is your stop for sure

Well let's just say I was driving by the bar I can't find outside and told me to pull over so I did and I walk in the bar to go to I had to go to bathroom first cuz I just drove for 30 minutes in the bartender who I believe is the owner's wife she says can I help you I said yeah I would like I need to use the bathroom and all cocky she goes you didn't buy nothing so you can use the bathroom I'm 100% service connected total permanently disabled veteran and that's the first time that I walk in that bar in over 20 years so then a couple weeks later I'm walking down the street and she comes outside and I have two benches out there on the sidewalk public sidewalk and she says you can't stand here I'm sorry but this is a public sidewalk

Best Meat Ram sandwich I've ever eaten, you know what I'm saying? Just me and the boys went in.... we blew the lid off the joint! Yeh-heh! Only thing is when we left someone had written the moon rules #1 on my frickin car! But all in all great night in dehr!

Good pool table.The place opens early (6am) so it's a destination for after hour partiers that want to keep going all next day long .If you want some real folks time or just a pool game and cheap drinks, this is one of the famous ones around the area.
