The food is good and the complimentary dessert was fantastic. Ultimately I cannot rate it 5 stars because when you include the mandatory gratuity the prices are just out of control. It would be more honest to raise the price and tell us that no tip will be needed.

Place looked great but food was fair. Eggs were rubbery, steak was tough.

For the most part, we had a very good dining experience at Jack's Firehouse before attending the Eastern Penitentiary Halloween Nights event directly across the street.
We made reservations for 5 pm on a Sunday, which was probably not needed, as when we arrived, there was plenty of seating and the hostess was eager to seat us before learning we had a reservation. I should mention at this point that everyone was extremely friendly. All the bartenders greeted us as we walked inside and our hostess and server were exceptionally friendly.
I ordered the NY Strip and my girlfriend ordered the fried chicken with Mac & Cheese. We shared our meal, and I found both selections to be average, short of outstanding. The meal was good and satisfying, but nothing about it would make me want to come back here again rather than try another restaurant instead.
I agree with the nitpick about a 20% gratuity automatically being added to the bill. It's something we would have paid regardless, but for a restaurant to do it is tacky. That puts out a message that no matter how good or bad we are going to treat you tonight, you are going to pay the maximum tip. That's not a good policy to enforce upon your customers.

Henry, Michael & Chris were more than attentive, even on a busy night! The food has left me speechless! It’s the freshest, most delightful flavor combinations! My husband & I will be back every year!

Amazing place. 100% recommended for anyone wanting something small like a sandwich with fries, but there's more than that on the menu. The service was wonderful and the place is clean and beautiful. If you're visiting nearby like the Eastern State Penitentiary, and get hungry. I definitely recommend Jack Firehouse.

Super cool old firehouse but very nicely done inside. Bar staff was really kind and attentive. Warm cornbread muffins with butter and sour cherries are served complimentary with your meal and then we were each given a warm chocolate chip cookie before we left. Definitely a great atmosphere and we'll done hospitality. Highly recommend. Great stop (across the street) if visiting Eastern State Penitentiary.

One of the Worst place we’ve ever been! We went yesterday for lunch , the service was terrible and they charge you the 20% tip, so of course the servers don’t try to be nice with you. More than 20 minutes with no water, no menus. My mom order a soup that was CANNED and super thick. I ordered the famous cheesteak and it was TERRIBLE. The bread was the typical dollar tree dry hot dog bun, no sauce, not even warm! Also the steak had very very little cheese and the no flavor at all. The fries were re fried so they were very grease ! It’s a total scam for tourists and visitors! Horrendous

Service was excellent. It's a nice atmosphere in a nice location in Philly. You should realize they automatically add a 20% service fee to your food tab. The drinks were good, the ribs I ordered were like beef jerky in some spots, and soft in others. A bit too dry for my taste.
Parking: Paid parking across the street at the Penitentiary.

Came here after a flight hoping for happy hour. Unfortunately they don’t have happy hour but we decided to stay anyway. We tried to sit in the outside area but before we could even get settled a mouse ran past us. So we decided to eat indoor. Food was just ok. Constant attack of flying little bugs. The worst part was while waiting for our check there was a mouse running around inside the restaurant. Needless to say we won’t ever return. Good luck.
