I went here with 14 people for a Sunday brunch. Everything was wonderful. A beautiful old structure, a lively bar scene and just a comfortable warm space overall. Our servers were attentive and courteous. People ordered all sorts of dishes from french toast to chicken and waffles. The portions were generous and the food was well presented and on point. The complimentary mini corn muffins and cookies were fabulous and a nice touch. Even the coffee was pleasing after having a terrible cup earlier in the day. Thrown in an excellent Bloody Mary and you're all set. I was pleasantly surprised. Did I mention the fair pricing? Jack's is a winner!

Buyer beware when selecting meal with fish. The fish was not fresh and I became extremely ill as a result of it for the following two days.

The food is good the service is great the place is just a little pricey but if you're wanting somewhere near downtown it's worth the wait. I would recommend reservations just so you have a table. The two of us ate for $88 which included the tip.

This was a back up restaurant as I was late to my original restaurant for my birthday celebration, and I am so glad I stopped here instead. Seating was immediate I arrived on a Saturday around 7 PM, and were greeted by staff immediately. They brought out free, small cornbread, and the whole staff was very polite and considerate, giving the fact that we had to rush through dinner to get to our next festivity. My friend got a cheesesteak platter, and I got the New York strip. Both were amazing and both came with great fries and a great portion, all for a great price. The lobster macaroni is to die for. Full of flavor and a portion big enough for two. Inside the restaurant it has a great ambiance. It looked a little old but me personally, I was a fan of it. It showed the true characteristics of old Philadelphia. We were also given a cookie as a small little dish for our travels and the cookie was very delicious. I would definitely go here again!I would like to mention an automatic 20% gratuity is added but 100% of it goes to staff. I absolutely did not mind this because everything was great!

I'm speechless and not in a good way. My mouth and taste buds are traumatized. We went on a Friday late afternoon and had the dining area to ourselves. We ordered the shared appetizer platter which included pork ribs brisket and some other mystery meat. The French fries were perfect, however ALL of the meat was cold and tasted like it was marinated with a bottle of liquid smoke and vinegar. What a waste of time and money. I want my money back and my taste buds.

I've tried jack's twice, once for brunch and once for dinner and both were mediocre experiences. The servers are nice but the food is not good. The cheesesteak omelette was not good and neither was the burger. The burger had a weird bun that was way too large compared to the meat patty. The drinks were okay. I don't think I'll be going to jacks again, would rather go somewhere else on Fairmount.

A great place! The staff was friendly and attentive. The outdoor dining set up was so beautiful. The food was good, service was fast. They had a few special touches that made the experience great. I will definitely be going back.

One of the only places open on MLK day by the penitentiary, we ran in to escape the cold and grab a bite. The inside is interesting, but still decorated for Christmas, which gave it a hogwarts vibe that I was kind of into. The espresso martini was good but TINY. The Bloody Mary had a weird carbonation to it and a citrus/lemon lime flavor that makes me think there is sprite in it? I wasn’t a fan.Somehow a firehouse named restaurant doesn’t have chili on its menu, but they had a turkey chili special. It was possibly the most bland chili I have ever had. We also got the clam chowder, which wasn’t terrible, but definitely tasted out of the can. The pulled pork and fried chicken entrees were fine. The Mac and cheese that came with the fried chicken was AMAZING.20% gratuity is automatically included, which I think is great for the staff. The issue for me was when the check came and I saw the automatic gratuity, I understood the wonky service we received. The server wasn’t particularly friendly or attentive. Another employee passed by at one point towards the end of our meal and offered to get us boxes and it seemed like that might have made our server mad. When our server came back, the to go boxes were basically tossed onto the table, the check was plopped down, and the card was run and dropped off without so much as a ‘thanks’. The other employee who offered us to go boxes was friendly in our limited interactions and thanked us on the way out. He might have been a manager. Not to be mean, but I really wish somewhere else had been open in the area for us to enjoy. If lunch for two costs $140+, I expect to enjoy the meal. Me thinks the pricing is based on the neighborhood and not the quality of their food/beverage/service.
