I was happy to try Johnn'ys Hots for the first time today even though I've been in the neighborhood for years. I heard that the hot sausage was the pick for a top choice there. The sandwich was prepared fast and tasted fresh and delicious. The hot sausage had a moderate spice level with great flavor. I enjoyed that and a cup of coffee at Penn Treaty Park across the street.
Hands down one of the best spots in philly. Try the hot sausage with spicy brown mustard, onions and sharp. Also I have a friend who highly recommends the combo (fish cake and sausage).
I've driven past Johnny Hots a thousand times and finally decided to stop in and give them a try. It's a cash-only establishment, but they do have an ATM with a $3 fee. I stopped in at 7 am, so I didn't have to wait long at all. The service was good and fast. The sandwich itself was pretty good, but for $7.50, I think it should be bigger. If you're in the neighborhood, give them a try. I just wouldn't go out of my way to come here.
