Went here with a larger group (7) and the service was great! Cool ambiance with classic Greek dishes. Maybe not my absolute favorite Mediterranean place in Philly, but for the price the food was very good. Would definitely come back!

So amazing!!!
Sorry to say, but we have not been here till now since covid. This was always one of our favorite restaurants. Especially for brunch. We were disappointed recently when we realized this is not the Kanella that we grew to love. I'm not saying the food is bad or not worth stopping in for. What it isn't is worth making a drive for and is far from what it was when it made the TV.

Apparently the head chef is absent. This is not Kanella of the past. Starting with loud non greek or soothing sound. Paper napkins? No salt pepper. Dishes are minimalistic in appearance and content. Salad had over ripe cucumbers, hot house tomatoes, peppers, and celery- this was an entree that was not eaten.Again not award winning. Chicken shish includes scope of white rice, onions, two types of spicy peppers.
We suggest chef digs in and ups the game. Here's hoping a professional review finds improvement.

We had friends coming to visit Philly for the weekend and somewhat last minute needed a large reservation (13) for a Friday night dinner. Kanella was able to accommodate us with only a few days' notice and did an absolutely phenomenal job. Because of the size of our party, we did the "Taste of Kanella" with family style Mezze and dessert, plus each diner chose their main. This was a great way to get a taste of the many amazing dishes that Kanella offers at a very reasonable price for the amount of food included. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and everyone came away from the meal raving about the experience. We'll definitely be back soon!
Vegetarian options: Limited variety of vegetarian mains, but a huge variety of vegetarian mezze (apps). Not as vegan friendly; much of the vegetarian apps had dairy.
Dietary restrictions: We had a person in our party with allergies to both chickpeas and nuts, so much of the menu was off limits. The staff did a great job identifying options that were acceptable.
Parking: Street parking and paid parking garages within a few blocks' walk. No dedicated parking or valet

Food was top tier except the portion size was on the smaller side.
Great service, friendly people, & can't wait to come back here more frequently.
