Monday night, just left a Jazz club, hoping to grab a quick late meal. The sign on the curb at the door said “kitchen open,” but by the time I made it inside, the kitchen was already shut down. Not even 10 o’clock. So much for that bite.

Inside was alive — loud, full of laughter, music, and people enjoying themselves. The kind of crowd that doesn’t care it’s Monday.

Parking, though? An issue. But hey, that’s Philly. The city keeps approving permits for new apartments, but forgets one key detail: people have cars! Where are we all supposed to park?

All in all, a mixed experience. No food, but plenty of flavor and good music earlier.

Just went to check this place out and was disappointed. Originally intended to go here and check out a few things on the menu and was convinced to go after checking the website and seeing happy hour. We asked and there was no happy hour even though the website said there would be?

Went here, left a tip, and kept some cash in front of me, two seperate piles, one near the bartender and one directly in front of me. Girl bartender took both, then when I let her know ab the mistake she threw the remainder back at me. Absolutely insane behavior from the female bartender on this Sunday night. I was actually gonna just have her keep it and just get another drink and let the rest be tip but she threw it back in my face so quick i just said screw it. Shame bc she seemed alright but im never trying to have anything thrown back to me and it wasnt busy enough to warrant that at all. Pretty sure it was caught on bar cameras if the owner feels like looking, around 10:30-11. Shame too as it was my first time here.
Edit: Just saw her drinking with customers at the bar which means shes drunk at work and it at least makes more sense as to why shes acting out. As a fellow bartender, insane to be drunk at work and still be rude to other customers.
2nd Edit: Another shot behind the bar!

This is a dive bar masquerading as a Greek Restaurant. I ordered octopus and it was clearly frozen and overcooked. Ordered the gyro and there were French fries inside and the pita was drenched in salt and butter. Bartender provided no service. Spent the entire time on her cell phone discussing personal issues. The cook had to ring the service bell three times before she picked up our food. Did not ask us once if we needed anything or were okay. Did not offer water. We had to ask for the bill twice and push it towards her for her to take our card even though she saw me place the card down. It seemed like we were a bother to her since we were the only customers in the place at 530pm. I don't usually post negative reviews but I want to help others avoid the $80 disaster experience I had.

Walked in here a little confused. It’s a dive bar that serves Greek food. Then we talked to the bartender who recommended the mixed grill. Let me tell you, it was out of this world. The food was amazing. The owner came over to greet us and talk to us for a little while. Great person to talk to. The bartender was very helpful and we never waited for another drink. Can’t wait to come back when it’s warm and check out the outdoor patio. Thank you!

Drove 30 mins to eat at this establishment. Looked 30 mins for a parking spot. Then waited 30 mins inside while the staff chatted it up and laughed behind bar. No one came over to us, said hello, nothing. We decided to leave.

Kostas Bar Restaurant in Philadelphia is a delightful homage to Greek heritage, offering an authentic culinary experience that transports you straight to the Mediterranean. Nestled in Fishtown, this spot is renowned for its traditional Greek dishes, from succulent gyros and souvlaki to mouth-watering baklava. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a lively bar area and a cozy dining space that perfectly complements the rich flavors of the cuisine. The staff’s genuine hospitality and the restaurant’s commitment to quality make every visit memorable. Whether you’re a fan of Greek food or new to it, Kostas Bar Restaurant promises a delightful and authentic taste of Greece. Highly recommended!

The food is very good but I put 2 stars because the toilets (at least the female ones) are really, really dirty. One door cannot be opened more than 50cm and if you are a bit wide you won’t be able the enter in the cabin. There is no locker on the door. The other cabin is extremely small. I don’t know when was the last time that the toilets got cleaned, everything was really disgusting (toilets, walls, floor, sink…).
