It’s a great hidden gem! Food is excellent and the atmosphere is exactly what you want from a neighborhood joint. Michael is incredible and this place deserves every bit of attention it gets.

The sweetest man runs this entire restaurant. He makes excellent sangria and makes you feel right at home. I can’t wait to return soon

The best Mexican food/experience I've ever had. Mike is a great guy making the best burritos and chips and queso/guac in Philly. The freshly squeezed juice drinks were awesome as well. Get the brisket burrito.

I knew when I asked for a menu and guy just started rambling without giving us an actual menu, we should have left. The prices we're undeciferable. The atmosphere of an Abercrombie, and not in a good way. One of got a mosquito bite indoors. Food took forever and it was not that good. But worst of all it was expensive because we couldn't figure out the prices on said menu.

The place is somewhat hidden, but what a gem. The owner is incredibly nice and the atmosphere is fun. Best part is the food and service. We heard about La Bamba when we moved into the neighborhood but then thought it closed. Found out he moved to this new location and so happy to live close by. AMAZING!

I like this place and can’t wait to return! Michael is serving delicious, unique, ultra-fresh Mexican food that stands out from the rest. Be prepared to wait a little but understand that it’ll be worth it. Brisket burrito with homemade flour tortilla is an absolute standout. The gigantic, toasty tortilla is packed with an abundance of tender, flavorful brisket and fixings. Get spicy red salsa on the side. Chips were warm from the fryer and just perfect. There was minimal sweetness in the Jamaica-cantaloupe agua, which I enjoyed, and it’s thick and syrupy and so would make a terrific mixer. This is a true hidden gem that recently moved from Catharine to S 5th, and it’s as funky, delicious, and eclectic as ever.

I’m not sure if he was the owner or the chef, and whether he was drunk or racist, but his response to a simple inquiry (re: hours) was beyond ignorant. I would NEVER recommend this place based on that interaction alone. It was horrible and extremely upsetting.

This is my favorite restaurant in Philly! Whenever visit Philly from NYC, I always make sure to go to La Bamba for the eclectic cosy atmosphere, to hang out with the owner Michael who is so awesome and welcoming, as well as the amazing food! I always have the best time at La Bamba, it’s a must go to spot when in

heartbreaking experience here as I was so excited to catch them on a night when they were open and had indoor tables available. we put in our order, then looked to my left to see the table beside me absolutely covered in mouse droppings (photo). my husband said to ignore it, but then the owner came over and attempted to wipe some away with his hand and then didn’t wash his hands before going into the kitchen and prepping our food. we asked for the food to go and paid since we already ordered. unfortunately, we couldn’t bring ourselves to try the food.
