We held our first team lunch at LaScala's Fire, and it couldn't have been a better choice! From the warm, inviting atmosphere to the attentive service, everything was top-notch. The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The pasta and salad dishes were a hit across the table, and the menu offered something for everyone. Our server was friendly and accommodating, making sure our group felt welcomed and taken care of throughout the meal. It was the perfect spot to relax, connect, and celebrate our first gathering as a team. Highly recommend LaScala's Fire for casual lunches. We'll definitely be back!
Food was good. Felt like a bar more than a restaurant. Confused servers, but nice. Not very attentive, though. It was our anniversary which I wrote on the reservation note. We brought our kids... thought they'd say congrats or write congrats on the bill or something.. but no mention. Oh well. Would consider returning for happy hour if convenient.
Usually while staying in AC we will stay at a different hotel- but we tried Lascalas one night being that it is a local to us name. I will come back to Lascalas fire in AC as we have multiple times and now more in the future. The reason being the amazing service we got at the fun and welcoming bar that we wanted to enjoy football at. During our meal- which was amazing- Ana -our bartender was absolutely the reason while we will keep coming back. Ana took the time to make recommendations, make the best drinks and managed a busy bar without any help other than her team mate Chris the bar back. They were an amazing team, so busy but still made sure everyone at the bar felt taken care of! Thank you for the service recommendation and amazing food and drinks!
Very good food and quick service. Restaurant had a leaky roof and the ambiance was kind of bare.
Food was very salty. Fresh parm table side or even offer of a shaker would have been welcomed No mention of special occasion given at joining. Very pricey: but large portions and tasty drinks
Team went above and beyond in helping our large party really enjoy our special lunch. Food was amazing too
This place is a solid for decent food in University City. I was last there on a really hot day and it was nearly as hot inside. Maybe the pizza oven? Our whole party just sweated through the whole thing. I've been there plenty of times in other weather when it's been perfectly comfy.
Amazing Service..especially the bartender Ashlyn..She's amazing. The only problem.....There was no Rumpleminze 😳 Ps. New one in Northeast Philly.
If you just want the headline, here it is: I’d return happily, but not enthusiastically.
LaScala’s Fire has 11 locations, from the Philly suburbs down to the Jersey shore (and one in Princeton). We visited the one in University City. The layout and design is to my taste - subway tiles and a bit of a labyrinthine layout that allows tables to be separated to give a bit of privacy. It makes looking for your waiter a bit challenging, but ours was attentive enough so that it wasn’t really an issue.
The restaurant’s own description features its pizza, which we didn’t have. The menu isn’t particularly long, but has the kind of fare you’d expect at an Italian restaurant, with a few surprises.
We started with the Tuscan wings and the Brussels Sprouts. OMG they were fantastic. The wings had a crispy skin and a Parmesan cheese topping that was yummy. The sprouts were some of the best I’ve had. We shoulda stopped there.
I think someone kidnapped the chef and replaced him/her with a culinary arts student who was following an internet cookbook. The chicken piccata was as uninspiring as it gets. I was particularly appalled at the sauce, which has lemon flavoring, but it looks and tastes like a paste thickened by flour or cornstarch. My friend’s gnocchi was like little pasta nuggets covered in a basil marinara. Those suckers would come in useful in a food fight.
The lemoncello cake was a nice desert (but I doubt they make their deserts in-house, though they’ve found a good partner).
The restaurant deserves a second chance. I’ll probably dream about those first course choices for weeks to come. Plus, the layout and design is really clever. Maybe the pizza is the way to go.

We went for a lunch special. Had never been here before. It was very cramped; the servers kept having conversations right next to us. The food was good for a fixed price menu. Our server Angel was excellent! He took good care of us and anticipated our needs. I'll return when there's no special because the regular menu looks good.
Bug in wine class; asked server twice to clean table- no response. My wife's meal came out 12 minutes after mine. Ugh!
Good food. Not great but good to very good. We split two pastas between the three of us which was perfect.
Food was nothing special but it wasn't bad. I believe our server forgot about us, and she never came back to check on us, refill drinks, or see if we needed anything else. The part that really bothered me was being charged for extra dressing for my salad, when they didnt actually put any ceaser dressing on my ceaser salad.
