tried to go the day of my 21st to buy some beer and got denied

I live next door to this deli and have spent well over $4k there in the last year and a half on various goods/alcohol/food. I’ve always had a lovely experience with Andy who runs the deli and the sweet woman who runs the cash stand. Tonight I went in to buy 4 buzz balls totaling just about $24, they only accept credit cards at a $15 minimum so I attempted to pay with credit only to be told they won’t accept my credit card because of “too many fees” the guy (a new guy i’ve not seen before) started getting really aggressive and wouldn’t even let me speak telling me “if i ran the business i would know about the fees” and that he “paid $400 just in fees last month” i totally understand CODB is hard on these smaller businesses but they literally have a sign on the cash stand that says “credit minimum $15” if they don’t intend to take credit whatsoever they need to update their sign to say cash or debit only AND they need to not be outright rude to their customers, especially ones who spend a ton of money there regularly. I’ve used a credit card well over 200 times shopping here and have never had an issue so long as i’m above the $15 minimum so this is not a new practice.

Anyone who gives this place a bad review is lying. Love this place

Horrible customer service. Accused me of buying alcohol for a random guy outside then BANNED me from the store. I got dropped off by an Uber just outside not five minutes earlier.Didn’t listen, accused me of lying, yet snarkily took my money and packed up my alcohol.WITHOUT carding.Do something for yourself and find better, there’s a million copycat delis around anyway.

Noticed the line of panhandlers outside and no surprise Asian deli, black hate = we don’t do cards even though we have machines for them. They can and also do make up prices depending on the customer and situation.

Surprisingly good beer selection, overpriced (prices of beer isn't posted) but good in a pinch because of the location. Cashier and staff are very friendly.

To start off, I was mugged in Rittenhouse Square one night. I woke up and immediately went to Latimer Deli, Where the clerk gave me breakfast and a pack of cigarettes to put on my "tab", upon hearing my situation and knowing that I was familiar with the owner Tony. These guys know their customers. They know you by name, they know your usual purchase or order, and they respect you. I once brought a group of friends and since they knew me as a regular customer I was given permission to waive a tip. I didn't of course, because they deserve much more than they charge. They do not ask for tips when buying booze, so stop complaining about price. In center city, every other place is the same.

Discriminatory employees. All they want is your money. No kind of customer service. I walked in and literally spoke with an associate that gave me a fake name and walked back out after I realized that place is a fraud. Food is terrible and prices are not even posted. They will make up prices on items depending on the person that is purchasing it.
