Unfussy south Philly restaurant serving food from the abruzzo region of Italy. Every dish is a smash. A+ service. Can’t recommend enough. Great wine list too!

Not sure how much longer this restaurant can survive. We had been regulars but now the menu continues to shrink, a pasta place with only a handful of options, up charge for bread and weak over-priced wine pours. There are numerous South Philly options that will have the business. A shame!

Very average food but good service. Small portions

Every time I’m in Philly I come here for one dinner as the food and wine and service is always top notch

Cozy, little neighborhood place. We all tried something different so we could taste each item. We had the meat charcuterie board, which had salami, prosciutto, pickled veg, and some soft buns. Everything was fresh, and the steaming bread was fabulous. We tried 3 pastas. Cavetelli with rabbit, raviolis with mortadella and ricotta and spaghetti with lamb ragu. They called that Maccheroni alla chitarra. They were all excellent. The cavetelli and the maccheroni had a kick to them. So if you don't like spice. I would not select these items. It wasn't over the top spacey, but my husband isn't a fan of food with heat, so we traded meals. I had the sweet and sour por ribs. They were tasty in a different way than the usual ribs. I would have preferred them a little softer, but they were good. They also have a nice cocktail selection. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. We would go back when we're in the area.

Was good when they opened then went quickly downhill after they lost the real Italian cooks

Place is a guaranteed hit. Pasta is up there for best in the city. Grew up coming here with the parents, saw it had some questionable reviews and went to see if it still held up to my memory recently. It did and does not disappoint. Will be back soon.

Came here for the recommendation on Eater and was not disappointed. Delicious antipasti followed by pasta and entree dishes that were delectable. Attentive but not obtrusive service. Only complaint was the dark, cramped corner we were seated in but, hey, they're clearly trying to maximize a not huge space. Felt the prices were reasonable for the quality of the food.

Warm welcome, dope vibes, cozy atmosphere whatever the occasion, authentic flavorful food, excellent top-notch service from all of the staff. Will certainly share and return with friends.

This place rocks. Menu, bread, bar, people, atmosphere, Braciole, pasta, amaros, and dessert cookies are all the best in Philly.

Wow, wish we knew about this place before we moved from MainLine to Florida a few years ago.

Came back to visit family in the city and friends took us here and were blown away.

Staff was awesome, drinks were good, food was amazing. Pasta dishes comparable to Vetri, Andiario (West Chester), and other top places around Philly!

Wish we took pictures but the Ginea Hen Ragu, and the Braciole stole the show.

We came in towards the latter portion of dinner service, and not once did our group feel rushed since it was the end of the night. The staff continued to ask what we needed even after their technical “closing.”

We will definitely be back next time we visit the city again!

Beware: the limoncello is STRONG in a good way

Went early on Saturday pm place was full and we didn't have reservations but were seated within a few minutes. Our waitress was outstanding with drink and food choices and checked in on us not too much but just enough again she was so friendly even with the place being busy. Cute neighborhood to stroll around before and after diner. Food was outstanding! My friend ended up getting a 2nd boul of the soup we both ordered! Pics posted

I made a reservation for le virtu for my wife and I for last night and had a disappointing experience. On the reservation I stated that it was our 1 year wedding anniversary and checked the box that resy provided. When we arrived we changed our seating choice from indoors to outdoors because of the lovely weather. Once seated it took us half an hour for our drinks to arrive (a bottle of wine). We ordered entrees and I was informed that the item I wanted was no longer available (not a big issue). Our server told us that they would bring us complimentary bread, but it never came. We waited while all the other tables were served bread around us. Our appetizer was underwhelming. Our entrees were fine. We ordered tiramisu and espresso martinis for dessert, but by the time our drinks came out we had already finished our food. All in all this took about 2 hours and we left feeling neglected by the staff.

As someone who has worked in the food and beverage industry for 10+ years I understand that there are busy nights and sometimes things fall through the cracks. It seemed like there was only one server scheduled that night, but it still wasn’t very busy. No one mentioned our anniversary, service took way too long, and we never got the bread like everyone else in the restaurant.
