Decided to go here for dinner and made a reservation for 7:30, we were a little late but upon arrival we couldn’t find the restaurant. We walked around the whole entire block, and even two blocks from where we or dropped off at and still couldn’t find the place, looked it up on maps and it said temporarily closed..which I’m confused about because I made a reservation online and decided to call but the line was busy as if they cut off the phone line. So we had no way of contacting them. Went to a Caribbean restaurant called flambo down the street and that was better
Chef Marcie Blaine Turner and co-owner Valerie Safran put the thrill into women owned businesses. They pretty much own 13th Street, with numerous outstanding restaurants and boutiques.. These are far and away my favorite restaurants in Philadelphia. Try any of them, they are magical.
The waitress was extremely rude when me and my bf decided we wanted to dine in instead of takeout. They told us we couldn’t sit to eat and reluctantly let us sit after looking at each other with a defeated and nasty looks. It was freezing out so we asked about them turning on our heat lamp, the waitress refused to turn it on even tho everyone around us had their heat lamp turned on. She said because we weren’t supposed to be there she couldn’t turn it on. She didn’t bring us plates or utensils so I insisted on her bringing over the manager. The manager was even more rude and defended the waitress’s actions. We were the only ones being treated like this BUT we were also the only ppl of color dining that night as well….. says a lot w out saying it… I will never dine here again. If you’re a person of color I would tread lightly dining here.
First time back to Philly in a long time and I was on a mission to go back to Lolita. I remember having the most amazing green enchiladas with shrimp years ago, I mean so good I remember it. However, I was sad to discover that they no longer have that enchilada. I had the red sauce enchiladas and nachos oh baby whether it's red sauce or green Lolita makes the best!
Mexican restaurant located in the Gayborhood of Center City. On 13th street surrounded by many restaurants, this place is a gem. Amazing Mexican dishes like mango guac, tacos burritos and amazing margs. Good service but can be busy at times so make sure to reserve a spot!
They were very attentive to our needs. The staff remained in masks at all times and our waitress was great.
Great happy hour drinks, loved the blood orange margarita! Also stayed for dinner, we really enjoyed the chicken enchiladas and fish tacos. Will def be coming back!
Had a 4pm reservation for nearly a week. Showed up and waited 35 mins to be seated. Only had 2 in our party. A walk-up got a table for 2. Another reservation for a table for 2 at 4:15pm. Was not offered an explanation. Was not offered seating inside. Was not checked on once. Usually I would chalk this up as one bad incident but that was the last time I was at Lolita. So after the second time with horrible service, I had to write this. Not sure what's going on there but the service has dipped to unacceptable levels and I can't go back again.
Good food and great happy hour
Solo late evening dinner on business trip. Some COVID restrictions in effect. Had the 3 for $33 special: chips & guac, chicken roja enchiladas and substituted tres leches for tiramisu for $2 upcharge. Drink was a very tasty blood orange margarita on the rocks. Dessert was a little dry, otherwise meal was very good.

My actual waitress was wonderful, but the hostess was trash. She was snarky and acted like she didn't want to accommodate us. Maybe she was having a bad day, but my guest and I didn't do anything to her. The booths are better than the side tables, they don't make sense to have someone directly on the sidewalk when folks are walking by and poses a safety risk. Food was delicious. I would go back as long as that hostess isn't there.
Chicken sandwich was eh, but those fresh cut shoestring fries were amazing! Great drinks as always and the outdoor seating was semi enclosed and heated. Me and my fiance love it here and will always come back???
Margaritas were excellent and we really enjoyed our fish tacos. Alcohol offerings a bit limited at brunch (no brunch drinks, mimosas, etc.) Service was attentive and polite, but a bit cold.
The mango guacamole was fabulous however the entrees, specifically the meals with chicken were not very good. The texture and quality of the chicken tasted odd in the chicken enchiladas and chicken tacos, making it inedible.
10:00pm reservation and it was as busy as a typical 7:00pm rush hour. So, first recommendation is to get a reservation. This place is hot. Second, if you’re looking for privacy and an intimate dinning experience, you won’t find it. What you will find is good food and good service. Don’t be afraid to ask. We not only had good things to eat but we learned some things too. Try it, you’ll like it!!!!!!!
