We were looking for a nice place to eat before attending a performance at the Suzanne Roberts Theater. This nice BYO had a good menu and a convenient location. On the positive side, they were very attentive to our time constraints, which we terrific. They advised on which dishes to avoid due to their longer preparation time. The appetizers, brussels sprouts and a beet salad, were very good, as was the $5 bread basket. The entrees, however, were mixed. I ordered the ratatouille, expecting a somewhat hearty mix of vegetables with a sauce I could mop up with the bread. Instead I was served a very pretty little dish of thinly slice squash and tomatoes on a bed of tomatoey sauce. No eggplant, no peppers. It was tasty, but it was also insufficient for a $23 entree. French fries were delicious. Boeuf Bourguignon was thought by some to be too salty, but both people who ordered it cleaned their plates. The real disappointment was the salmon with porkbelly. A fellow diner, who always cleans her plate, did not finish it. The salmon was pronounced very well prepared, but it was overwhelmed by an enormous amount of peas with no discernible pork belly detected. I would give Mabu another try but my fellow diners would not.
What a treat this evening was! Mabu is a little treasure of a spot with perfect lighting, perfect music, and very good food. We had grilled octopus, onion soup, and salmon. Everything was well-seasoned and well-balanced. Service was attentive and pleasant. It brought to mind a cozy, romantic neighborhood cafe in Paris! We will definitely return regularly. Highly recommend! Nice and close to the Kimmel/Acad of Music too.
Our first visit last night and we and our friends were impressed. All the dishes were enjoyed for their flavor and execution, This isn't cutting edge cuisine, it is just really good versions of dishes we knew how good they can be or at least thought we knew. I understand the menu changes with the quality of what is available. The beet salad and Brussel sprouts first courses we we shared were filled with familiar flavors but applied with deft hands. The same was true for the Pork Chop Milanese, which was also unbelievably juicy. Similar praise was raised for the under-brick chicken, a vegetarian shepherd's pie and salmon with peas and pork belly. Room is a little cramp and some tables sit close tot he door. Service was not rushed.
This was our first time at Mabu -- an early dinner on a Saturday. The menu is enticing and the food is made from seasonal ingredients. My partner and I started with the roasted brussel sprouts - the cranberries were unusual but worked with the maple balsamic reduction. We shared the duck leg confit and the cod bilbaina for mains: both were great! The apple gateau was a delicious dessert with our espressos. We brought a half bottle of sparkling rose that worked with the sprouts and the mains. Portions were generous but not over the top. Service was good but seemed a little slow given that we were one of the first tables to be seated. When we left after about 90 minutes the place was nearly packed. The room was loud but we were able to converse throughout.
Mabu is terrific we were a group of four and we could not agree who had the best food - everything was perfect and delicious. The restaurant is a lovely, quiet place. The service was great - helpful and well paced. We will be back.
While visiting the city that I grew up in there has always been an abundance of restaurants to eat, look no further than Mabu Kitchen. The atmosphere of this cozy cornerstone in washing square will have you taste buds going wild. The burgers are a cooked exceptionally well with a fluffy pillow of a seeded bun…..it’s mouth watering. Then on the side, of course they have fries but the salads they provided were also a timeless palate refresher between burger bites. Highly recommend, the staff are very attentive, kind, and welcoming. It all ties in with the atmosphere of the place. They take attention to detail seriously and it shows in the way their food is cooked, plated, and served. Well done Mabu Kitchen, I’ll be seeing you for brunch as well.

This brunch spot was exactly what you’d expect from a solid brunch joint. They were really accommodating when we showed up a little late, which we appreciated. We got the chicken and waffles and the Dutch baby, and both were great. No complaints at all. We ended up adding some fries to round things out and that hit the spot too.

An exceptional meal @ Mabu Kitchen. Some of the highlights were the beet salad and duck confit. Also, the rolls with herb butter as simple as that sounds are a must, they were perfection. We will definitely be returning soon!
Really enjoyed this cozy little place with delicious food. Brussel sprouts and kale salad were delicious. Thought the ratatouille was a bit too small and composed.
Phenomenal BYOB upscale restaurant. Small menu which helped me decide on the burger with fries (absolutely stunning!). Would definitely love to come back! Also they were very good with gluten free restrictions
We also got burrata to start us off and the chocolate pudding type thing for dessert. Everything was very very good and our server was awesome. To quote him “this is the best burger in Philly” and I haven’t had any other burgers in Philly yet but I wouldn’t be surprised, it might have been the best burger I’ve ever had

This restaurant has excellent service and atmosphere! But unfortunately, we were disappointed on the food. I had the Milanese pork chop and my husband the duck. They were okay; the flavors weren't memorable. The sides were unremarkable (the Milanese pork chop only came with some arugula; nothing else, which is monotonous; the sides of the duck were more varied, but the duck itself was only okay), and both dishes were kind of pricy for what they are (around 28 USD each). We really wanted to love this restaurant. It’s a new restaurant, though, so it might get better!

Diverse brunch menu with unique offerings. I had the poached eggs with yogurt dill sauce, and a side herb salad, both were excellent! Along with crusty baguette & a great French press, a perfect Sunday noon meal. Excellent service. Will definitely return!
Neighborhood gem. Great service and great food. I'm a regular here and this place never disappoint. Is perfect for a date night or catching up with friends. Great ambiance very quiet and relaxing.
An intimate dining experience. The atmosphere here is great and Sean, our waiter, was knowledgeable and helpful. The food was fantastic. We had the brick chicken, flounder, banana pudding and the chocolate cake. Every dish was flavourful! We are definitely coming back! Thanks for a great experience
