Mama Shan's African and Soul Food Cuisine

The first time I ordered the food was really good and fresh. My go to order is the curry goat platter w/ jollof rice and plantains. I noticed that the more I ordered the less quality the food was. Today I order a large platter to share with someone thinking I'd get more meat. Instead they gave me extra rice and less meat than I would've gotten in a if I ordered a medium!!! Disrespectful smh And the rice was super greasy. SMH I will NEVER order from this place ever again.

These people are scam artist. They tell you that they’re giving you red snapper and then give you tilapia. they also make you pay an extra fee for a large piece of red snapper and then turn around and give you a small piece of tilapia. or a small piece of red snapper, but this don’t look like red snapper to me at all. This is my order from yesterday and this is my order from today and I paid the same exact price. I ordered this the day before and paid the same amount. The proof is in the picture the. They do not take care of our customers and they are scam. Artists they try to get the most out of their book. This was supposed to be a large red snapper they even charge you extra two dollars for a large red snapper and I did not get a large red snapper even if it’s not tilapia it ain’t no large

when I first started coming here the food and portions were great. I normally order the cassava leaf but after time I noticed that the prices constantly change with portions becoming more less… Today my cassava leaf platter had nothing but bones in it with no meat and I barely had any rice.

First, I ordered an $20 oxtail platter with jollof rice and collard greens. The platter only came with three oxtails and the jollof rice was disgusting, the second order was potato greens with white rice but I received nasty jollof rice instead all because the woman didn't write down my order. The potato greens were gross and had regular American Chicken in it. The third order barbecue jerk chicken, Mac and cheese, and collard greens, but once again they put jollof rice in the platter. Luckily they did tell us as we were walking out the door that they forgot the mac and cheese. The the three orders were $55 which isn't the problem the food tasted disgusting and the portions were seriously small. My night for take out was ruined!! They don't have good quality food!!

This stuff definitely been sitting around for god knows how long & they really thought it was okay to package it up & send it to somebody to eat. Not my family…I had to throw it out! Lesson learned I’ll continue to drive to west Philly for my African food!!

I just got 2 large jerk platters they give me medium trying to convince me they is large I been here before in when I had it the large was A1 but they trying play in my face with this little as medium with 4 little asss wings dings the color of the street I will never go back

Ordered for delivery. It was fast and packaged well. However, like all the other reviews say, the okra stew smelled and tasted almost sour. Fufu was amazing though... it's unfortunate.

Today was my first time eating from MaMa Shan's. And OMG! Everything I ordered was absolutely AMAZING! COLLARD GREENS were delicious. Sweet Plantains were nice and juicy. FuFu w/ Chicken Stew was so delicious. The rice and jerk chicken was perfect and evenly seasoned.

Five Star for sure...
I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Bless your hands MaMa Shan's. You are great at what you do by delivering your heart and love through your food.

Very small restaurant couldnt really sit down comfortably. There was something off about the food. I’ve had it before and it was good. This time the waakye was not good it tasted like it was burnt and like cigarette ash/charcoal. They were super nice but food was not it. I am not sure if they changed cooks or something. I had the beef stew and jerk chicken. Both were not good. The Mac and cheese and the fried plantains were okay. For the price and quality of the food do not recommend.

I sensed a decline when I ordered previously from Mama Shan’s but today absolutely takes the cake. I ordered a large curry goat platter with jolloff rice, plantains and mac & cheese. The Mac cheese is wet, crumbly and sour. It tastes and looks as if it spoiled and was later reheated. The large platter came with three pieces salty protein that are mostly fat and bone. The only edible part of the platter is the side of plantains. Throwing this in the garbage, as we speak. Waste of money!

I used to like them but now they are scamming people out of money a 30 dollar meal and at 9 dollars in taxes plus a 4 dollar fee if you use your credit card then have the nerve to be playing gospel music when you come in whole time their robbing the community I won’t be back!
