Marathon is welcoming, well located, and has a friendly and attentive staff. We brought our 11 year old grandson and he said he had the best quesadillas of his life, from the children's menu. That menu is fantastic by the way-- generous in portion and reasonable in price.

Marathon is always a great place to meet. It was extremely quiet on this cold, snowy Tuesday evening. My Moroccan Salmon Salad was delicious as usual. My friends dinner also looked good.

Awesome, friendly, and great food. The experience was outstanding, the staff was exceptionally friendly, and the food was superb.

The food was very good and the waiter was very attentive. The environment in the restaurant was very warm and welcoming. We'll definitely be going back there again.

Location was close to the arts performance section of downtown Philly and their parking garages. Food was very very good. We had Salmon, Chicken Pot pie, and Chicken Marsalis. Nicely prepared. Waitress and staff were attentive and friendly. Atmosphere was diner-like but not noisy. Overall, a very enjoyable dinner, and food selections were all tasty, especially the salmon entee.

Delicious food and fabulous service! All 6 of us loved our meals and would go back in a heartbeat.

The food was just okay, but the restaurant was quite dirty and dingy. We were seated at a booth, and the seats had crumbs and food on them; the table was sticky, and the wall next to the booth had food particles and dust/dirt sticking to it. The floors throughout were dirty and missing tiles. When you walk past the bar to get to the restrooms, you can easily see how messy and unkempt that area is, as well. While my husband enjoyed his eggs Benedict, my omelet was just average —slightly dry and overcooked. Our server was polite and attentive, though, which made our experience more tolerable.

Server seemed bothered to wait on us. Appetizers can with or after the entrees. Not ideal to have to eat everything at once.

Great food, good menu variety. Not too noisy even though we were there noon - 1:30.

Marathon Grill was a nice casual spot to drop into for solid American eats and drinks. The tuna salad was delicious, the tuna was fresh and cooked really well. The service was okay, but the food made the stop worth it.

On November 20, 2025, after a day of running errands in the area, I wanted a snack before returning home, so I stopped by several restaurants on the same street as Marathon Grill looking for onion rings to-go. None of them had any, so I went to Marathon Grill (121 S 16th St, Philadelphia) to see if they did. What should have been a one-minute task became a five-minute wait at the host stand. I have been to this location before for business lunches, so I’m familiar with the open layout, staff could clearly see me standing there. When a host finally appeared, he literally walked around me to hand a white couple menus, who arrived after me, while completely ignoring my presence. A worker behind the counter noticed the exchange, and when I asked her, she confirmed they didn’t even sell onion rings. This behavior from the host was a clear act of racial discrimination and extremely unprofessional. Management needs to train staff to serve all guests promptly and in a non-discriminatory way. I will not be coming back, and I will be sharing this experience with my network. For anyone looking for onion rings and actual hospitality, Garage on 1501 Spruce Street is the place to go.
