My favorite bakery in Chinatown

Lyds R.

Mayflower was a random stop but looked like a great option for a quick snack. We didn’t have to wait long to order and there are lots of options for buns! We got the pork bun and the almond butter bun, which are priced under $5 each. The pork bun was so delicious and stuffed with meat, and was sweet and savory! I could eat 5 more of those and call it a meal. The almond butter bun is very soft and buttery (makes sense) and better as a dessert rather than a snack. Great spot for a quick and tasty bite!

Custard buns so good I don't even care if they were temp closed down due to an inspection, also quite affordable & tasty cake slices. The Viet coffee is also exceptional - it has a darker roast which I prefer.

If you're reading this do yourself and go ahead and get some custard buns. Super nice ladies, quick and efficient process.

Buns have good crust, lots of filling, and aren’t that sweet. Cake slices are fluffy and also not too sweet.

Buns are tasteless and dry. Larger than other bakeries sure but not good at all. Pineapple buns taste nothing like the ones from Hong Kong. Pretty sure they cater more towards Americans/tourists tastebuds rather than asians. Also priciest compared to other bakeries in Chinatown. I'd recommend International bakery on 10th or Bread Top house.

Wifey cakes are fresh and not too sweet. Egg tarts also have a nice crust. 👍

I’ve gotten the taro cake for my birthday maybe 2 or 3 times now and it’s always delicious. The pork buns and egg tarts are great too when they’re available, and the prices are reasonable all around. I always look forward to stopping by when I’m in the area.

We grabbed pastries for 30 people for a work meeting from Mayflower and they were delicious! Every item looked and tasted great, and the service was fast and friendly. I recommend anyone looking for a good pastry or looking to cater a breakfast meeting go to Mayflower Bakery!

They actually wrapped cardboard boxes with aluminum foil to make cake bases! One lady with short hair is kind and polite, but the lady with long hair is rude!

This place is a local gem! Their baked goods are always fresh and reasonably priced. I ordered a chestnut cake and was able to pick it up the very next day.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I stopped by Mayflower Bakery & Cafe while I was in Chinatown and I’m so glad I did. The pastry case was packed with options and everything looked super fresh. I grabbed a pineapple bun, a roast pork bun, and a coconut tart, and honestly all three were delicious. The buns were soft and fluffy, the fillings tasted fresh, and the coconut tart was perfectly sweet without being over the top. I also ordered a Vietnamese-style coffee, which was strong and smooth and paired perfectly with the pastries.

The place itself is small and simple, but the staff were really friendly and even offered to warm up my pastries, which made them taste even better. Prices are very reasonable, so you can try a bunch of different things without breaking the bank. Overall, it’s the kind of spot I’d happily come back to whenever I’m in the area, tasty food, good coffee, and a welcoming vibe.

The pastries here are a true treat—soft, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet. It’s the kind of place you want to visit again and again for a cozy snack and a cup of coffee.
