Great spot. Awesome food, nice waiters, and always have the TVs on for the eagles.

We just discovered this place after dining in Chestnut Hill for over 7 years. We could not be more in love. Incredible sandwiches. Such a laidback, cozy vibe. It’s clear that it’s a local favorite when you walk in. The kindest people work there. You feel like you step into a friend’s house & you get to have an incredible sandwich while you’re there. Went for the first time on Thursday, and went back on Sunday. If you’re on the fence, let this be the review that convinces you to go! It’s seriously so good.

For the proverbial "hole in the wall" this little tavern hits spot on! We went with the special of the day which was a pastrami and the soup was a ginger/carrot concoction. The staff were courteous and engaging but not overly daunting. The food itself was amazing. The pastrami was soft and flavorful with an amazing rye bread. The soup was definitely an understatement as I have seldom had such a good variation at a tavern. We will definitely make this a routine stop every time we happen to be popping by Chestnut Hill! Feels like it should be on DDD based on the scratch made menu and awesome atmosphere. The staff is so friendly and welcoming!

One of the best cheesesteaks in the area and sandwiches that fill your belly and the services is there to fill your soul!

Chicken salad was amazing - added bacon which was like 4 strips extra crispy to make it one of the best out there.

Thanksgiving sandwich / schmitter / Peter rabbit rounded out the order.

Previously we had great coconut cake and carrot cake!

If you need to do take out orders - they make fresh ham / roast beef / and turkey everyday. And they package their sandwiches in protective boxes!

Lastly the best thing about the place besides the staff food and ambiance was by far the cleanest bathroom I have ever seen at a restaurant. Honestly this place is top notch and should be on your list of places to go while in the Philly area!

This was our first time stopping in here. It was very busy, but we didn't have to wait long to get a table for two. The sandwiches were absolutely delicious. The house lager was pretty tasty too. I definitely recommend stopping in here and giving something a try!

They yell at children here. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Manager yelled at our children and threatened to kick them out of the restaurant/bar. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Great neighbourhood spot for some delicious sandwiches and soup. Very friendly service and I like how, if you tip in cash, there's a lottery for some merch.

We came here for a late lunch yesterday afternoon and were seated right in the first room closest to the main entrance. Our server, while friendly, didn't write anything down from our order and got 3 aspects of the meal incorrect because the requests weren't written down. The same thing happened to the table beside us. It's one thing if you have the ability to remember orders, but if it's not your forte-it's just safer to write everything down.

The BLT was perfect, and the soup was comforting and delicious. The burger, while good quality meat lacked any discernable flavor. Also, I asked for it cooked medium, but it was brought out well done.

We may pass by again when we're in the area in the future to give it a second try.

From the moment we walked in the owner hit my daughter on the head with the kitchen door when she was seated in the chair waiting for the bathroom. The owner was miserable all night and followed us out of the restaurant to stop us and asked why we made a mess and our kids were singing. The table behind us came over and said how well behaved our children were. I do not recommend to go with kids. Not family friendly at all.

They make you feel like you’re right at home here! Love the historical vibe as well as the un suspecting signage at the front. It’s not a place that boasts or tries to bring people in unnecessarily. I had the turkey club and my husband got the Tobias. Both were so delicious and fresh.

Parking: We parked in a paid lot behind the building. We went on a week day during lunchtime and didn’t have trouble getting a spot.
