I’ve come here multiple times in the past decade and the chaat and lassi never fail to hit the spot. I got a fig lassi and a paneer chaat, both were so refreshing and the owner is so kind and hospitable. While this spot is not in a great location, the lassis and food make it worth it!!!

Exquisit Chaat. Soft, supple naan. Tangy and arromatic Chicken tikka. Nothing is bad. Give my boy Hasan a shot and get the Crazy Chaat, pretty much the ideal hot weather food.

The picture doesn't do the food justice. I was impressed by the flavor profile: the sweet and tangy tamarind chutney paired well with the gradual, intense heat of the peppery green sauce that was mellowed out by the yogurt. He was generous with the sauces to the point where I even saved the rest for my food at home. The crisps (very similar to fried wonton wrappers) were airy and perfectly complemented the mashed textures from the cubed potatoes and chickpeas. As for the samosa, it was delicious; flaky w/ just the right amount of spice in the potato and pea mixture. You can tell the peas are fresh because they have that slight snap to them. I'm deducting 1 star because while the chaat was excellent overall, I was a little disappointed I only got one samosa, considering a regular order of two samosas is $5.99 and I paid $10.79 for my order. That and my food was cold to lukewarm when I ate it in the restaurant; the sauces, yogurt, potatoes, and chickpeas cooled the dish down, while the samosa was on the warmer side. You could tell the potatoes and chickpeas were refrigerated up until they were added to the dish...I didn't expect this kind of temperature range. Aside from those things, I really enjoyed the trip there and will definitely try Hasan's food again! Service was quick, too. PS If you can handle the heat, request it "extra spicy" to get that delicious green sauce.

The owner was charming, magnanimous, and kind. He made you feel like family. Then the food came. To write it's some of the best food I've ever had is an understatement. And yes, his mango lassi is the Best, no question.

Started a new summer tradition of ordering a Mango Lassi once a week on my walk home. The owner is so sweet and personable I need to try the food next!

10 years later, it's still the best Chaat & under $20 meal (with Lassi) in the city. I used to live nearby & was spoiled. Now, despite being in walking distance of 75% of the best restaurants Philadelphia has to offer in Center City, I will consistently make the 20 minute drive to Mood. 100% customizable Chaat... want sweet? Crunchy? Spicy? Add Nuts, Fruit, or protein (chicken, lamb, etc. ) ? All of the above? No problem. Service is always with a smile. Kudos to quality & never failing in dozens of visits over the years.

Wonderful time at the Cafe. Their chat is excellent and so are the samosas. Lassi was delicious with the right hint of tartness from yogurt and the sweetness of mango. Chicken biryani and rice kheer were really good as well. Hasan , the host was so hospitable. A memorable afternoon.

I eat at Mood Cafe at least once a week. The owner is a sweet, generous and hardworking man. The chicken tikka is delicious and he allows you to try his Lassi before you commit to buying. My favorite Lassi is the Mango Lassi and the vegan Lemonade and Peppermint Lassi. The restaurant is also a great place to get work done. I recommend Mood Cafe to all my friends.Kid-friendliness: Kids love Mood Cafe's Lassi.

Best customer experience in a long time! The chicken biryani was YUM-MY. The owner is prob the sweetest guy on earth - he gave some delicious extra sauces and even offered me a lassi (my first one! SO GOOD). Can't wait to go back!

Mood Cafe is my favorite place for food and dessert in West Philly. The owner is a sweet, hardworking, generous man. The restaurant is also a great place to get work done. Its clean and filled and surrounded with plants. I recommend the Mango Lassi and the butter chicken with rice.

This is a place with a deep history, and as such should be treasured! I was hungry and low on cash, and the owner welcomed me into the restaurant with the main goal of sharing his delicious menu with me! I left with the famous mango lassi and a plate of delightful rice with paneer! It was completely made to order, and the unique flavor only amplified the incredible service. Don't walk, run here -- and tell all your friends to try out the extensive selection of Lassi drinks!

Been going here for almost 10 years - always so good, solid, and tastes like the owner (who makes all the dishes) is genuine with ingredients. Best chaats, lassis, and new chicken Marsala dish, with pungent spices, is probably the best in the Philly area.
