New Deck Tavern in Philadelphia is more than just a pub; it's a quintessential Philly experience wrapped in warmth and hospitality. As a family-owned business, it exudes a charm that's hard to replicate. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in an atmosphere that feels like home, yet with the vibrant energy of a bustling tavern. The first thing that strikes you is the ambiance—classic yet contemporary, with wooden accents, cozy booths, and just the right amount of dim lighting to set the mood. Whether you're grabbing a pint after work or settling in for a leisurely dinner, the ambiance sets the perfect backdrop for any occasion. But it's not just the atmosphere that shines at New Deck Tavern; it's the food and drink that truly elevate the experience. The menu boasts a tantalizing array of Irish and American fare, from hearty shepherd's pie to mouthwatering burgers made with locally sourced ingredients. And let's not forget about the drinks—whether you're a beer aficionado or a cocktail connoisseur, there's something for everyone on the extensive drink menu. What truly sets New Deck Tavern apart, however, is the service. From the moment you're greeted at the door to the last sip of your drink, the staff goes above and beyond to ensure you have an unforgettable experience. Friendly, attentive, and always ready with a recommendation, they embody the spirit of hospitality that defines this beloved family-owned establishment. In a city known for its rich culinary scene, New Deck Tavern stands out as a hidden gem—a place where locals gather to unwind, indulge, and create lasting memories. Whether you're a longtime resident or just passing through, a visit to New Deck Tavern is a must for anyone looking to experience the heart and soul of Philadelphia.

My dad was a bartender here for years and years in the 90s and early 2000s (Henny, for anyone who remembers), and coming back all these years later as a customer was so nice. Seeing that the place is still in good shape and the food and service is still good, was a wonderful feeling.

Great Irish Pub right next to the UPenn campus. Impressive selection of beers and tasty pub food. The burger, fish & chips and Philly cheese steak are all great selections. Very generous serving sizes, come hungry!

Came in for a few drinks and wasn’t even hungry. But I ordered the French Onion soup to pass the time and was pleasantly surprised. Who knew that an Irish tavern in Philly has the best French Onion soup ever? Great service and authentic pub ambience, too.

We have the unfortunate issue of our daughter being inpatient at CHOP; the New Deck has delivered a little sense of normality during the dark last 16 months.I grew up in the city and jetted for the burbs after nearly 30 years, but I was super impressed with the 3400 block of Sansom street after our daughter fell ill in 2022 and CHOP became our regular sleepover party.Walking in; the brickwork says ‘OG’ and feels like you are walking into Cheers. Warm; friendly folks coming from/going to local college games or just hanging to watch local Philadelphia and listen to the best music choices ever. A year is picked and the music focuses on that year. Being a child of the 70’s and 80’s it works out great for us! Atmosphere 5⭐️Drinks: Sierra Nevada Celebration for $5 for a legit pint. That’s SN Best beer. Did hazy for a while. Want my OG WCIPA’s back and SNCA delivers. 5⭐️ lots of other choices tho. ??‍♂️Food: So. This frigging chili. Sour cream on the side and a couple extra chips on the side and the chili is bangin. Nice heat; great flavor. I would eat this everyday. Rest of the menu is great as well. 5⭐️Service: 10⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Brian is our main server; what a great guy and hard worker - has us set up when we walk in; super attentive and keeps us coming back. Although not a regular; we walk in and feel like we know everyone. Sharon is an absolute doll too; funny, friendly, thoughtful and thorough. These two are excellent therapists when one needs one the most.Place is great.
