Lovely cup of NE clam chowder and cheesesteak panini.m with wonderfully crispy fries. Our server was very attentative and made us feel at home. The food came out quickly. This is my family's fav South Philly diner.

Classic South Philly environment. Staff is friendly but not corny friendly, they are Philly friendly. If ya dont know difference you will after you visit here.
The service was fast and my order was perfect.
4 eggs over medium (white was cooked and yolk was dunkable), hash browns with onions, toasted English Muffin, and sweet Italian sausage. The Coffee was diner good.
The interior was clean as well as the men's restroom.
If you are expecting a gourmet dinning experience you are going to the wrong place. What you can expect is a good meal, decent portions, and its served fast and fresh.

Food was cooked quickly and served hot. All my food was delicious. Colleen, my waitress, was great. Always a good meal at Penrose!

Wife and I were in town visiting from Florida. We had just landed, got our rental, and saw Penrose. We stopped in, grabbed a breakfast, and liked it so much that we stopped in again on our way out of town. I recommended it to my son who lives in NJ & commutes to work in Philly.

Nothing to write home about. Service and atmosphere were great, but overall it was basic diner food you could get anywhere. Wouldn’t recxomend if you’re on vacation and trying new things, but if you need a cheap easy breakfast it works. Baked goods at the front looked better than anything on the menu. Both were great and worth the price, but again, nothing special.

Love it here. Good food, good people, decent prices. One of the few places that still has a local feel.

I've been a couple times in a few years for work meetings. I've gotten the Cream Chipped Beef both times, & enjoyed it each visit!! Highly recommend. Wish I could make there more!!

Not sure I should like this spot as much as I do, but the fact that they’re one of the only diners with booze helps!
The food is always fast, and really solid diner food. The service here is always great, but I came here to write an overdue review of my experience on Sept 14! Our server was exceptional, despite mentioning that they were newer to the team. Super, friendly, really helpful, and just a really refreshing and positive attitude! Thank you!!

This place used to be great, but the food has gone downhill. Mediocre diner food, service that’s subpar and overall a reason to not comeback.
I remember this place having tasty food; the last few times that I have been there the food has lost all flavor with no seasonings and it seems like they are buying the cheapest pieces of meat. I know they have revamped their menu but I wish they could back it up with some flavor.
