Merzbacher's is a true Germantown gem! Not only are their breads phenomenal, but the owner and staff are incredibly lovely people! They do a lot for people suffering from food insecurity and often donate to the local food fridges. I am very thankful to have them in my community!

Philadelphia's best kept (vegan) bread secret. So if it is a best kept secret, why am I reviewing it at all to "ruin the secret"? Well they have too much bread and they deserve your patronization for a quality product in a working class neighborhood. Pictured is a combination of 2 TooGoodToGo orders. A few people had some one offs I think, but you are supporting a local business. You can even park temporarily and there is a pick up window from the outside. You don't enter the building. They have a sign on the door telling you to go to pickup window. Just get a TooGoodToGo if you want something but aren't sure what and don't care if they offer it. If you are one person, try to give extra to someone on the street or friends. I found this place on TooGoodToGo and the name caught my attention. I didn't go to it right away because it is a drive for me. But then fellow Justin B. Yelp Eliter mentioned this place to me too and then I am like it must be worth the trip. If he still doesn't have a review on this place, you tell him! Lol. I then told my Baltimore friend that I am gonna try to take him here next time when he visits. I also really hope my vegan friends will appreciate this bread a bit later on. Btw, as I have been repeating to some friends, Even Madonna supports bread lovers! (Rolls eyes and inside joke that may or may not be pictured)

This is a great place to get breads from! They have a huge variety and I haven't had anything I didn't like so far

Their Garlic Herb Mashed Potato rolls were part of the holiday meals this year. So fluffy, yet substantial. Just delicious. Froze a pack, and they were just as good heated. Hope they appear every year. We're fans of their French Toast loaf & sweet potato rolls, too. (We bought these at A & N House of Produce)

It's so great to go right to the source. Great bread and such nice staff! Worth the trip! And it's right at Wayne Junction train stop, which is convenient.

Paid for an order on good to go and the store was closed hours before closing time. The people inside ignored us knocking. Never again. Wasted time, gas, and money when there were employees inside hiding behind a forklift! SMH

I very much missed European breads in the US until I found Merzbacher's!!! Thank you thank you for not adding unnecessary sugar in your bread, which seems to be an interesting US custom!

Their focaccia is my fave! Wish they had more variety or maybe seasonal stuff

Amazing bread! High recommended visiting during their hours when they are open to the public starting at 4pm.

Merzbacher's makes a variety of vegan breads that they sell directly at their bakery and in area stores. I got a loaf of their French Toast Loaf at Di Bruno Brothers grocery store, and it was amazing. It made the best vegan French toast I've ever had. We weren't able to make it to their location in Germantown, unfortunately. After we got back from our trip to Philly, I wished I had bought a whole bunch of different loaves and brought them back on the plane.
