Stumbled across this place due to its late hours. I had no complaints about the food. Even the wings were good. They also still served us 35 mins prior to closing.

Mackenzie is an amazing bartender and overall “front line” hostess extraordinaire… she was friendly and full of fabulous info about the restaurant. The house margs were delicious and the tortilla soup was “da bomb” 💣… ! Ty Pistolas Del Sur…we will definitely be back.

Here is the problem. I ordered the nachos with no jalapenos. It came without jalapenos. Great. But something in these nachos was so hot I felt like I needed to go to the hospital and had to leave immediately. I told the bartender and she said "I don't see any jalapenos on your food but I think the guacamole has some pepper in it"... well the nachos on the menu did not say it came with guacamole, which is fine because I actually love guacamole but does it need to be THAT hot? I understand this is a Mexican restaurant and food tends to be spicy but this was ghost pepper hot. I did not go to the hospital but my mouth is literally still burning and I vomited on the street due to a reaction from the heat.

Was exploring the East Passyunk Ave and landed at Pisstola'a for dinner. I knew they had several versions of ceviche on the menu. Selected the Ceviche Mixto. Plenty of lime juice, heat from Serrano peppers. Served with corn tortilla chips. I like mild to medium spice...this had more heat than I prefer...but I did finish it...very flavorful. Also ordered tortilla soup, also very flavorful. That I could not finish. Just too spicy for me. The chips were super crunchy...I Prefer thinner chips. I would go back, everything was very fresh, served fast and they have a great menu. Just need to dial down the Serrano usage for me.
Delicious food, lovely Quizzo, but the portions could be a bit larger for the price. After dinner it wasn't long before I was hungry again. I found that the staff could stand to be more attentive OR at the very least there should have been more staff working especially on an evening as popular as quizzo night. Would definitely go back though.
