Standard coffee shop experience, pretty busy with limited available seating on a Saturday afternoon. Vanilla latte was good!

I went in ordered a latte and when it was my turn the young man that took my order made no verbal engagement. No “hey” “can I take your order” or anything. So I ordered the latte and toast with avocado. He forgot the toast. I asked a women working about the toast. She looked at guy he made the toast and still with no communication just reached over the counter and looked at me. After 10 minutes no “my bad” or “sorry about that”. The service was awful. Maybe I’m used to coffee shops where I live in Germantown where the establishment engages with customers. At least the Dunkin Donust on Snyder Ave the people are nice.

The air con makes me wanna eat lead. We are an autistic home and the noise from the Rival Bro AC was driving us mad. We BEGGED them to fix it. Walked down and forced ourselves to make human contact to please ask the massa if they could send a repair guy. We'll since we worked from home and spent weekends in we knew he never came. Our pleas fell on deaf ears. I talked to the owner who only tried doing was figuring out which apartment we were in. So we moved. I'll never drink here because I bought coffee just to be nice so I wasn't taking up a spot in line. So did my partner with autism. And I'm not saying the coffee was bad but having no summers because the AC drowns out life itself is a killer. I ALMOST put some bailer twine in the AC unit to stop the deathly screaming. Which I am not fabricating or embellishing about. It's so bad it triggers my PTSD from the Sand Box and the Stan. I'm being serious. It was horrific and terrifying and it really hurt that the only "help" was to try and see where we lived. Creepy. So me moved far away. I visit South Philly sometimes to see my Gma but I Won't be stopping by here. Maybe the free library across the street.

We visited Rival Bros to meet with a local professional. I hate to be critical, but I was underwhelmed. The employees basically ignored customers, even when we stepped up to the counter, as they were busy having a conversation amongst themselves. My drink was incredibly bitter and I had to add sugar to make it palatable. (I don't tend to order super sweet drinks, and I drink unsweetened coffee all the time. The iced mocha tasted like straight unsweetened cocoa powder, though, which is pretty unpleasant.) The indoor seating was all taken, so we sat outside in Passyunk Square. Clearly, they get a lot of business in their location, and I can see why, based on location.

My husband and I love small, local coffee shops. He worked for a micro roaster when we were newlyweds, and we helped some friends open their coffeehouse many years ago. We enjoy supporting these businesses and watching them succeed. I'm not sure if we just had a one-off experience, but it's not someplace I'd run back to, unfortunately. They have an amazing location and beautiful storefront, but the drinks and service were subpar. I'll probably give them a second chance at some point, though, to see if my experience was a fluke.

I've been coming here for years because they have my favorite cold brew, however a majority of the staff are extremely off putting and have a bad attitude. I get coffee from here at least twice a week and 85% of the time the barista is either rude or acts like they'd rather do anything but be there.

I have been going to Rival Bros since they were a serving coffee out of a truck on Drexel's campus. I was thrilled when they opened the Lombard location but the Tasker location is blocks from home! Even when there's a wait, it's no worse than any other shop. There's seating indoors and outdoors which is nice. The coffee is my favorite in the city. I am a big fan of their various espresso tonics/lemonades - whatever the specials are. Great offerings of toasts, pastries, and chocolates.
