Roxanne’s prison food stunt shows a complete lack of thought and living in a bubble. It’s a desperate, tone-deaf play for attention that ignores how insensitive and out of touch the whole concept is. They seem trapped in their own world, blind to how offensive this gimmick comes across. Food must be suffering if they need to do this.

I am rooting for this restaurant. Been to when it was a BYOB at their previous location and was by far one of the best restaurants in the city.
It is no longer BYOB and I did not see that anywhere while booking. Some other people showed up with bottles of wine that did not know either.
The new restaurant menu needs work. Need to add 2 more things on both appetizer and entree. On entree a fish, beef, pork, vegetarian, poultry.
The duck on the menu is exquisite. I always love and only want to patronize restaurants I can not replicate dishes they make. This cannot be replicated.
The wine list and prices are a sin, sorry. PA wines for $18/19 cheapens the meal and experience.
It’s likely an old sushi restaurant or yoga studio, I get construction is expensive, but need to find a way to blend the decor to create a better ambiance.
Candidly, I will take this restaurant back to the old Roxanne, make it byob again, bring back the prefix, but reduce the courses. It was too much. You can make this GREAT AGAIN like the old Bibou and Django, but even better.
I am rooting for this restaurant and still has huge potential so I am giving it a 3, but I’m afraid if things don’t change quickly this restaurant will not survive.
That said, I recommend people to try this and give it a chance to recover.

I wish I had gone to the original location. I had only heard great things so when they moved to Queen Village, we were excited to go. Unfortunately, the place still looks like it's half finished. The service was incredibly slow. We opted out of spending $100 on a mediocre PA wine (the PA only wine list is a mystery). The bright spot was the incredible fresh baguette and butter, which was delicious. But beyond that, the remaining dishes were unbalanced, jarring, and overcooked. Disappointing overall and one of our worst Philly dining experiences. I hope someday they can bring back whatever magic their last spot must have held.

Incredible, whimsical food! Had the pleasure of dining at Roxanne on a hot day and it felt like the dishes we ate were an artistic commentary on classic summer foods. The combinations of flavors were fun and surprising. This place deserves a Michelin star. Will definitely be back to try more of their amazing creations!
Loved every second. My husband and I haven’t been this delighted by any other dining experience in Philly. We LOVED the dessert tasting menu. Inspired. So much quality food and well worth the price.
Roxanne’s only competition is itself, yet it keeps winning the competition….
Roxanne1 was magical and whimsical and brilliantly idiosyncratic
Roxanne 2 is evolving towards a level of sophistication not possible at the 1Woman show of the original. And it just keeps getting better (cocktails!!!)
Using the word best is not appropriate.
Roxanne is unique. Truly a one off.
A gallery show of Alex Holt Originals, where the only constant is change.
Go….. Just go.
Absolutely phenomenal. Genius. Can say this is the best restaurant I’ve ever been to.
The best dining experience I have ever had from beginning to end.

Hands down, the best restaurant in Philadelphia right now. It takes nothing short of brilliance to pull off a menu like this. The fact that they can pull this off with such a small team is incredible. They deserve a Michelin Star. Maybe two.
Some of the best food I've ever had. Seven-course tasting menu, five of them were sublime, and all were a delight to try. There was usually one unexpected component in each dish, and all the ingredients were of the highest quality. I would happily eat the raw cheesesteak, asparagus, boudin blanc, duck, and sfogliatelle every week for the rest of my life. Service and atmosphere felt slightly casual for how special the food was, but both were well-done and pleasant.
One of the best dining experiences ever. Food was sublime. Will definitely follow wherever this talented chef goes! They are moving to 5th and Passyunk.

Honestly - for the price ($170 pp if I remember correctly) there were some things that we were dissatisfied with. She plays a lot with texture. However sometimes it feels as though the appearance of the dish takes priority over the taste. For instance she uses an aerated foamy cheese which after having a few bites I started to notice that the “airy-ness” was making me feel nauseous. Additionally, one of our courses was a cold ice cream tart. It was yummy but arrived to us wayyyyy too cold. To the point that it was painful to bite into. This felt frustrating given the cost of the meal. My boyfriend also noted that many of the courses are “prepared” but not cooked meaning that they are served cold. Again, a little frustrating that the majority of courses were not actually hot when you’re paying as much as you are. It is definitely a cool experience and a lot of food but I hoped to be more impressed.

Phenomenal flavor profiles. Chef Holt is a true original. Service is exceptional. Pacing is perfect. Beware: you will leave as full as you’ve ever been, so eat sparingly before you go.
