Me and fiance live right up the street from here and enjoy popping in for drinks from time to time. It's a great lively bar on the weekends and subdued enough to a place to grab a quiet drink and enjoy conversation during the week. Service is always friendly and their beer selection is good enough. Menu is good for snacking and light bites. Solid execution on the food side.

I've been hitting up Scanlon's for their Wednesday night Quizzo the past few weeks. It has given me a better opportunity to evaluate Scanlon's and I am liking what I see. While I would not call it a dive bar, nor is it a true locals only place, it does have quite a friendly home-ish feel.I've had a few snack-type food items once or twice, but probably not enough to truly comment on. However, they have a decent selection of both draft and bottled beers that I am sure you'll find something to drink at a decent price as well. If you are looking for fancy cocktails, you'll need to keep looking - they really only offer basic mixers.Service is nice and very approachable. Pull up a seat at the bar and say hello. SYOY!

Scanlon's is a great local bar. We are older folks (50+) and were there Saturday night. The bar was filled with mostly young people (25 - 35). It was convivial and like Ernest Hemingway said "a clean well lighted place." The barroom is beautiful with original wood on the walls and a beautiful oak and marble bar. They have a few high top tables and on the night we were there there were some folks standing as well. They have two pool tables and the guys playing pool seemed friendly as I had to pass through the group to get to the ladies room. No fancy cocktails but a good selection of beers and basic liquor and mixer drinks. It's a great place to go to hang out with friends and spend the evening among old friends and ones you've yet to meet.

Ehh not bad not great either. Drinks were small and in my opinion not worth the price. Not my type of vibe but not terrible.

This place is what you expect it to be, in the best way. It's a dive bar atmosphere with a passion for Philadelphia sports. Contrary to other reviews from 3+ years ago that hinted at some negative experiences, we have (and continue to have) very positive and friendly experiences at Scanlons. I can't say anything about the food because we intentionally go there to drink beer and watch sports on TV, but they have bar snacks that seem more or less cooked in a fryer. So Can't go wrong with a snack there. There are TVs visible from any spot in the bar, they have some craft beer, and a huge bottle/can selection. One of the best parts is that they have a huge projector screen and two Pool tables in the back ($1.50 per play) that are in good condition, and the people that play there are friendly and welcoming. No pool sharks when we go. I would recommend ignoring all prior negative reviews and checking it out for yourself, especially if you are new to the neighborhood. It will likely be your new neighborhood watering hole.
