This place is horrible. Why is the small tiny cheesesteak $18 when I can get a whole platter with fries and a drink and a bag of chips for $10 in the hood I don’t appreciate the BS restaurant I just left out of RIDICULOUS.

Best tasting sandwich we have had in a long time… food was delicious, service was fast and welcoming. nothing more to say. This is a must visit along Benjamin Franklin Parkway, especially if you’re staying at the Sheraton (literally right downstairs)!

I just ordered Philly special cheese steak today and I don’t think it’s freshly made after my order. Used to come each week and their steak is hot, juicy and delicious. But the one I got today is not as hot as before after I got home, the steak isn’t inexpensive, and since they made it only after you paid on kiosk or Uber , I think they shouldn’t keep any steak that’s not picked up by customer or mistakenly made. And I don’t like the way the store replies the reviews, they always said we have so many five stars and you should give review based on your average experience. No! I paid the money and your steak is not good!

10/14/25 My wife and I were driving from South Carolina to Bar Harbor, Maine to visit nearby Acadia National Park. We have always wanted an authentic Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. We decided to stop in Philadelphia on the trip up.
I did some research and found Shay's Steaks.
We went in and were greeted by the staff. We ordered a prime rib sandwich with provolone cheese, sauté d onions and peppers.
While waiting on our order Gary came around to check on us and say hello. We told him our story and he said he was going to let the owner know so he could greet us.
When the sandwich came my wife and I split the sandwich. The sandwich was great. Very good experience with our first TRUE Philly.
Before checking out, Greg brought one of the owners over , Scott. Both Scott and Greg were very welcoming and cordial. Scott took my wife and I for quick tour.
Scott explained that all of the sandwiches are prepped and made fresh at the time of your order. No food under heat lamps anywhere. No freezers. No can openers. Only a cooler for the meat. The food is prepped for cooking continuously throughout the day by their staff. The homemade cheese whiz is also made periodically throughout their day.
This was a great experience and we can't wait for our next visit.

Outstanding cheesesteaks- easily the best I’ve had. More expensive than their Cheese-Whiz competitors, but totally worth it for a high quality product. Many menu choices ranging from the cut of steak to the toppings. The owner is very friendly and clearly cares about the quality of the product and the satisfaction of the customers.
