Amazing restaurant featuring high quality sushi and house made noodles. The sushi bar chefs are fun and informative and the servers are knowledgeable and efficient. The quality of the roe/caviar and uni on the sushi dishes really stood out. The hot tea with roasted rice was also very good!
Our first experience with this restaurant was on Valentines Day when they were so overrun with people it was impossible to tell how good it really was (not there fault). Luckily, we came back 5 weeks later and had a great meal. The sushi in particular was quite good and the sushi chefs very engaging and skilled. The chefs special roll really shined as did the negiri. Highly recommend it!
We went for Valentine's Day! The meal was great and though they were very busy the service was great. Drinks, small plates and main courses were all fantastic. I paid with a gift card and the checkout process was super easy. We'll definitely be back!
Get the premium sushi set! This is my 4th time back - honestly one of the best sushi in Philly
We sat at the sushi counter which was really fun. I loved the open kitchen and getting to watch the food being made. We got a roll, two nigiri, and the ribeye ramen with added fire bomb which were all very good. Would come again!
The food is definitely top notch here. The service was good but a little confusing. We sat at the sushi bar but a waitress took our order and brought our food. It was crowded being a Sat night but I did see the sushi chefs serving people directly so again, just confused. The only issue I have is that OpenTable shows them as a BYOB and their website doesn't show any drinks other than tea, soda, etc. However, when we entered they did have a small bar as well as a drink menu. Unfortunately, we brought our own bottle and they charged a $35 corkage fee which is outrageous.
My friends came in from the Jersey and PA suburbs for some ramen. I had a great meal here a few weeks ago and knew that it would not disappoint. They loved the food and atmosphere
Great atmosphere, great appetizers! If you go, maybe stay away from the sushi - the slices of fish were very large.
We loved the experience. Chef Yonten is our favorite sushi chef. So personable and the best sushi we've had! The ambiance was great. Not too noisy. Others at the bar were great too. The miso sauce and black cod was my favorite!
This was our first time at Shiso, and it did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was phenomenal. Highlights included the tuna tasting, the Downtown roll, and the pork ramen. The bar seating is fun, and the chefs are very friendly. We'll definitely be back!

If you are a noodle or sushi fan, this should be on your best-of-Philly list. The tuna tasting appetizer is a cut above many others- along with superb sushi and sashimi options. The Udon, which I have had twice and cannot get enough of, was excellent. The sake menu is also a big plus, you will find some nice sakes which is always a challenge in other restaurants, if they provide any at all. Dine in, the restaurant is very nice inside and you can watch the chefs in the open kitchen, a real treat!
Great experience here. I highly recommend trying this place out. We sat at the sushi bar. My husband got three items from the specials and I got the chefs choice tasting. They have a few options for the chefs tasting from a 9 piece basic to a full omakase. It really allows you to get a fabulous experience without completely wiping your bank account. Toro, uni, live scallop. Everything was delicious, including the cocktails. I had a chefs omakase at royal sushi and I think about that everyday. It's hard to compare because I did not get the full omakase, however, I was completely satisfied with the quality I received. It was a wonderful experience. I hope to return soon and frequently.
Such an amazing experience. Definitely my new favorite sushi place in Philly and my husband and I eat a lot of sushi!! The prices are amazing for the quality and amount that you receive. We sat at the sushi bar and it felt
like our own personal dining space. The chef was top notch!
