Our trip to Sor Ynez was incredible. It was our first time there & we found out about them through word of mouth. The food far surpassed other “well-known” Mexican joints in the neighborhood, in both taste, presentation, and value. You can tell they put a lot of love into making every single dish. We got the guac (and enough chips!), brussel sprouts (wow), birria, enchiladas, and the enmoladas. Everything was absolutely delicious & perfectly portioned. The food was perfectly spicy, not spicy hot, but where you can taste spice subtly in the back of your mouth. I like that they are several dishes they can make vegan. The margs were balanced, the white sangria was crisp, not at all sugary. Our server was really, really good, it was clear he is experienced & was timely without it seeming rushed. The host (maybe the owner) was incredibly kind & checked in with us too. I left a note on my Resy that it was my partner’s birthday, not knowing they’d read it or if they’d do anything with it (didn’t expect it of course). Well, they brought out a small flan with a candle for his birthday. It was a complete surprise & it was delicious, not at all too sugary. This is such a hidden gem, we cannot wait to come back!

I went here one day for girls’ happy hour and sat at the bar. The tacos were very tasty, though I would’ve liked a little more shrimp because it wasn’t very filling. The service was great and everyone was kind and attentive.

Unfortunately Sor Ynez failed to impress this Latina (yes, I am an actual immigrant) the food was bland, expensive for what it is, the the staff was incredibly rude. When I asked a question in English, they refused to answer (no, they were not busy at the time) so I thought it might have been a language barrier. I switched to Spanish and they rolled their eyes and walked away without taking my order. I had my friend order for us to take home, since we no longer wanted to eat in the restaurant. In case you didn't realize - English was my second language. I speak, read and write English and Spanish fluently.

The birria tacos were really yummy. Not soggy at all as another reviewer said. Really enjoyed it with the salsa verde.

Sor Ynez is as advertised--innovative, fresh, sustainable food. Our party of 5 immediately declared the guacamole the best we have had. Our entrees were also delicious--vegan enchiladas, shrimp, beef shoulder. I ordered a refreshing Paloma, and we topped things off with churros, which were light but strong enough to be vehicles for the cinnamon tinged chocolate. Our server was attentive and friendly. We look forward to our next visit!

Sor Ynez is a hidden gem in Fishtown! The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed night out. The food was absolutely delicious—hands down the best carnitas we’ve ever had. Big shoutout to Chloe, who was the sweetest and made our experience even more special!

A wonderful take on traditional Mexican dishes, served to you by a cheerful staff. Nice indoor space, good bar and a spacious outdoor patio.
Excellent food thoughtfully designed menu and great service. A definite recomendation.

On a few visits Sor Inez is becoming one of my favorite spots in the area. They are a bit hard to spot from American but look for the patio furniture outside the large mural building. There is plenty of free parking.
The staff are very nice and the menu has some great variety depending on when you go. For example, the brunch menu is much different from the weekday lunch menu.
The guacamole is super good, especially if you don't like onions in your guacamole. Another standout dish is the chilaquiles for weekend brunch!
Simply outstanding. The tortillas alone are worth the visit. Everything from the attentive service, flavorful mixed drinks, and delicious food (we had the sikil pak, guac, fried fish tacos, birria de res, and tres leches) are a testament to the attention to detail Sor Ynéz puts into every aspect of the customer’s experience. Adding this to our yearly Philly trip’s itinerary!
