The ambiance was nice. The waiter was ok, kind of took her time. The wings we ordered were pretty hard with a lot of sauce dumped on them. Needless to say they were overcooked. We had a very small portion of greens which were ok. The drinks were delicious. Since there is a 20% gratuity, our plates should have been removed immediately not 10 minutes later. The waitress should have been faster. This place is ok, I think they have some issues to work on.

SOUTH restaurant is a gem! The corn bread was on point, and the service was top-notch, saving our night after a reservation mix-up. Jazzy atmosphere and friendly staff made it a great experience. Fried green tomatoes are a must! Just a bit of a wait for entrees. Definitely will be returning.

South Jazz Kitchen is a true gem in Philly. I celebrated my birthday here and couldn’t have picked a better spot. The food was incredible! Elevated Southern cuisine that impressed even me, and I’m very picky when it comes to Southern dishes. The ambiance and design are gorgeous, with a vibe that’s both elegant and welcoming. I love that it’s Black owned and that they maintain a dress code, which adds to the polished, upscale feel.
There are two sides to the venue: the restaurant side and the jazz side. If you want the full experience, I highly recommend booking a ticket for the jazz side. It guarantees your reservation and gives you access to live music in a beautifully curated space. You’re seated by staff rather than walking yourself in, which keeps the experience organized and intentional.
Not only was the owner gracious and accommodating by personally resolving a ticket issue with care, but the entire staff was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell the owner doesn’t just hire anyone. The team reflects the same pride and excellence that defines the space. South Jazz Kitchen is a must visit for anyone looking for great food, great music, and a truly memorable night out.

Last night, I went to South on Broad Street, and when I tell you the service was top tier—I mean it! From the moment my guest and I walked in, we were treated with genuine warmth and professionalism. Everyone looked amazing and well-dressed, giving the place such a classy vibe.
Now, let’s talk about the food—baby! The Oxtail Pasta? Run, don’t walk! Packed with flavor and melt-in-your-mouth goodness. The cornbread skillet, mac and cheese, and buttermilk fried chicken had me in an instant food coma. Everything was seasoned to perfection and full of soul.
And the drinks? Chef’s kiss! Aliyah at the bar took such good care of us—friendly, attentive, and made the best cocktails.
Overall, South is that spot! If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and go try that Oxtail Pasta. You’ll thank me later.

Our waiter Rico was awesome excellent service and tge food and ambiance was top tier!
I had issues with the waiter because there were problems with each item I ordered except for my entrée. It felt personal. Michael the manager understood what went wrong and handled the situation appropriately. I have been a patron for years (since 2019) and never had any issues before. I am giving the restaurant a high rating because of how well the manager handled my situation. I suggest to have the waiter repeat back to you what you ordered. The food is delicious, ambiance is lovely, the music is wonderful, and the staff was very kind and welcoming.

We were there for dinner and the jazz concert. Both were outstanding! The venue for music was really good. The acoustics were great and although our table was about as far from the stage as possible we could see and hear everything quite well.
The food was great! We started with the skillet cornbread. 😋 Sweet, buttery, hot. Yum!
Between us we ordered the jambalaya, 2 duck breasts, and the turkey wings. Everyone cleared their plates.🦃🦆🍗😋
Our server was very attentive, helpful, and friendly.
Overall, it was an great experience and we will DEFINITELY return for dinner and a show!

This place is amazing! The service from the greeter, bartender, and management were stellar. We had a curated, private dinner here. Everything was delicious from the drinks, appetizers, main entrées, and dessert. The ambiance is EVERYTHING! Highly recommend. This was the best food and service I received the entire week in Philadelphia. The mushrooms stuffed with greens and vegetarian jambalaya were my favorites. If you're ever in Philly, you gotta check this gem out!

We dined in for my birthday. Food was average, service was slow. We didn't like the fixed menu, you cannot choose the sides you want. The proteins are served with preset sides. You can ADD sides you want for an extra charge. We don't plan to dine here again.

Took my lady to this restaurant on her birthday and denied me entry because I didn’t meet the “dress code” because of pants. The claimed my pants were “athletic wear” which they were not. They were casual pants with a crease but because they had a stripe on the side they said it was atheletic wear. But I looked at customers with jeans, t shirts and Jordan’s on. Btw sneakers are “athletic wear”. So I left my lady and went home to change. When I returned the food was ok. Wasn’t enough seasoning. Won’t be returning.

I went out to celebrate birthdays in my family and I couldn’t have picked a better place. The atmosphere, staff, and most importantly the food were immaculate! If you want to have some of the best fried chicken and cocktails in Central Philly this is the place to go. I will make this spot a habit!
