We had the bossom, which was fantastic! Great portion size for two, and included all the banchan options, so no need to order anything on else on the menu. For two people, this was really good value. Had the featured cocktail (Umma) which was also very tasty. I would definitely come back again. SouthGate never disappoints!
Everything was really nice and you all have the best burgers in the city. I was steered by our server to try the newer katsu burger on the permanent menu that had pickled daikon....and I was surprised to find almost none and virtually no sauce or condiments.
Southgate has the best service out of any restaurant I have been to in Philly with staff that are very personable and even proactive. The food is always amazing, and the bar menu is a lot of fun to order from. I love the mystery beer coming in a paper bag especially.

Patrick was absolutely amazing! He knew the menu well, was funny, and extremely helpful. The food was amazing as always.
Excellent bibimbap, plus some excellent wings and brussel sprouts. Excellent draft beer, and a simply wonderful gastropub to get an excellent meal at a fair price. One of the my favorites in Philly :)!!!
Loved the Noona cocktail! If my liver could handle 5 of them I would have ordered that many, it was SO good. Went on a Wednesday & the atmosphere was lively. I sat at the bar & enjoyed the food. The bartenders were great!

Michael, Joe, and Zack (sorry if I butchered the names) were great the night I brought my sister in before a comedy show! Great recommendations and pacing. They were professional & maintained a tight workspace behind the bar. First of many visits!
The food was very good, I loved the rice cake and sausage skewers. The workers were all very welcoming, they gave me an extra plate of dumplings for free because they made a mistake and apologized a bunch. Moral of the story, good food, good atmosphere, happy me. 😛

Padraig was our server. He was phenomenal! He also happened to be the bartender and was a great help in helping us find a drink we liked before dinner. He was honest and told us what he liked and didn't think were the stars of the menu. Always appreciate that. The Korean chicken was amazing! Crunchy outside but not at all dry under the crunch. The Southgate fries were great - be warned though - they're SUPER garlicky. We also shared veggie dumplings (fried), kimchee and spicy cucumbers. They were all really good. This place is a great find!
Absolutely delicious. Everything was so good.

A friend and I have been to SouthGate a couple times and will definitely go back soon. This is a great Korean-American gastropub with a delicious food menu and tasty Korean/Asian-influenced cocktails. The service is friendly and super prompt, and the space has a minimalist contemporary vibe that feels warm, friendly, and homey. All in all, SouthGate is a cool and welcoming neighborhood place to frequent solo or with friends.

Great local-feeling modern Korean restaurant. Only a 5-10 min walk to Rittenhouse square. Good prices.

Cool interior, very bustling, there was a wait so we ate at the bar. Bar tender was very kind
Reason I’m giving 4 stars is cause the wait was forever and the Brussel sprouts were overcooked in our opinion, very very heavy charred flavor taking over. Image in there
The bar was very good and the sausage was an experiment of mine. Not bad but I am biased against. The cabbage and beef was very good though, we enjoyed that experienced. And the fried wings were great ! I always have to try K fried wings

Bossam for 2 people doesn't look like a very big portion at first, but when you eat it in Korean way (warp the pork with the cabbage leaf with condiments plus kimchi maybe), it is a quite good portion. I would like the pork to be thinner, since it's hard to make it to a ssam but still it is Korean-American style so I think it doesn't need to be super authentic way.
Vibe is okay, not too fancy, good for casual dinner or lunch.
Cocktails are quite fun, all the names are Korean movies or K-drama titles. Innocent man was good (recommended for alcohol taste lovers) and handmaiden was a bit too fragrant for me but still enjoyable.
Sodduksodduk: as a korean it's a bit too pricy but fun to try, why not.
