Bossam for 2 people doesn't look like a very big portion at first, but when you eat it in Korean way (warp the pork with the cabbage leaf with condiments plus kimchi maybe), it is a quite good portion. I would like the pork to be thinner, since it's hard to make it to a ssam but still it is Korean-American style so I think it doesn't need to be super authentic way.
Vibe is okay, not too fancy, good for casual dinner or lunch.
Cocktails are quite fun, all the names are Korean movies or K-drama titles. Innocent man was good (recommended for alcohol taste lovers) and handmaiden was a bit too fragrant for me but still enjoyable.
Sodduksodduk: as a korean it's a bit too pricy but fun to try, why not.

We sat outside and enjoyed people watching and had great servers who came to check on us constantly! We ordered the $10 anniversary specials, the soy and spicy wings as well as the normal banchan set. Huge fan of the fried tofu and the wings! The cucumbers in the banchan set were a little thick, but everything was reasonably priced and great! Would definitely recommend coming here with friends!

Plenty of options tonight, since they had an anniversary menu, happy hour menu AND the regular menu. Vegetarian options were expected. I got the bimbimbap and split the happy hour banchan with a friend. Happy hour deals were definitely worth it if getting drinks. Bimbimbap was good but I like others in the city better. Overall still a fun night out though and incredible service!

This is such a lovely gastropub -- bustling and energetic without feeling crowded or loud! The food is delicious, and the happy hour menu is a fantastic deal. The baos in particular were absolute perfection. The staff are so friendly too, and very helpful with accommodating dietary restrictions. Highly recommend, and will definitely be back!

We've been to southgate twice in the past week because we loved it so much! We first went for drinks on a slow weekday, and we had such a good time with our bartender Michael that we came back for birthday drinks. The cocktails are all amazing, we particularly enjoyed the innocent man and the family matters. All of the bartenders are amazing - over both days, we were served by Jonathan, Michael, Padriag, Josef, and Justin, and they were all very very good and created such a fun atmosphere for a large group on with birthday drinks. All in all, would highly recommend as a very underrated cocktail spot - great drinks, great atmosphere, and amazing cocktails.

What a fantastic find! We were visiting for the weekend and looking for something a little different from our normal night-out fare. So glad we found SouthGate, as it was absolutely fantastic! We throughly enjoyed the Korean chicken (crunchy and delicious, but soy and spicy versions), the bulgogi beef bao buns (soft and sweet), fried pork mandoo (perfectly cooked and seasoned), and the SouthGate fries (deliciously spicy). Our party of 5 was sat outside on the patio, and it was a perfect spot for conversation...inside sounded a little noisier when I popped into the restroom. Service was great and attentive!

Last night we brought friends who had never been to Southgate and they enjoyed the restaurant immensely. The dinner options are interesting and delicious, and the bar menu is always enticing.
