Been multiple times for drinks and a quick snack of fries or escargot. Decided to give it a shot for dinner and got the duck confit w/ lentils. I was really excited to see how great this was going to taste, but was disappointed. Crispy skin like it was waiting in the service window for a hot min. Wish the meat wasn’t so dry with the lentils.Eh, I’ll give anything a shot twice since their good on the cocktails and escargot

I have only good things to say about this place. I thought at first it was a little odd to have steak tartar served with fries but the pairing was actually really good! Everything was amazing. I have never had such a complex gnocci dish and it's probably the best I've ever had. The scallops were perfect. Mussels, snails... all of it. Everything was just amazing; I cannot stress that enough. I can't wait to go back!

Food missed all around. Steak frites were extremely peppery, the fish frites were downright funky tasting (they use skate, which resembles a stingray), and the roasted carrot app was far too lemony. I don’t usually rate restaurants but this one was such a disappointment that I felt obliged to share. Service and atmosphere were good, but we came here to eat and regretted it big time.

Absolutely awesome tavern for a date night or dinner with friends! The Steak Frites are perfect and the Mushroom Croquettes are also delicious. They have a decent wine and cocktail list and a couple beers on tap. Highly recommend!

Front of house staff was wonderful and very accommodating. The place was warm and welcoming and we were so excited to try at 4.7 star French restaurant. Very disappointed when the main dishes came out. It tasted like someone spilled the whole salt shaker in all of our dishes. Not sure if that was a fluke… maybe the regular chef is on holiday break but I’d have to say I would not try again for the price.

Good King is an awesome neighborhood restaurant. I know; I'm from the area, and it is a go-to for me. Folks working there are downright nice + pleasant, atmosphere is friendly + buzzy, and the food will, by itself, make you come back. Nice place; great, hard working folks; one of the privileges of living in a civilized city.

I was with a group of four that tried popping in on a Saturday around 8pm, only to get abruptly and rudely turned away by the host.It was clearly a busy night, which we noticed upon walking in the door. We stood at the front to see if there was room; it looked busy and so we asked the host if there was space. The host was incredibly rude and dismissive. Instead of kindly stating there was no capacity and to come back later, the host effectively told us to get out. The phrasing was “we are at capacity, thanks.” The tone was very short and dismissive. As a potential patron I’d expect at least some understanding or empathy while being turned away. I hope they choose to treat customers with more kindness in the future in similar situations.

This little tavern was such a treat. We had fried oysters, the house burger, and the duck confit - all three were absolutely delicious! The oysters were such a perfect combination of textures, plated in-shell with a creamy sauce, the oyster set on top of that, and topped with perfectly salty Ikura. The burger was a moist and savory affair, the confit was perfectly tender, and our wine and cocktail choices (the house red and the Portmanteau cocktail) were both tasty on their own, and a great pairing with the dishes. Our servers were very sweet, and atmosphere-wise, this elevated tavern - though buzzing enough to require a reservation, even on a Monday night - was actually an excellent setting for intimate conversation. We didn't have to scream at each other across the table, but rather could beat each other at reasonable voices alive the music and ambient sounds of the restaurant.Overall, a great little spot that I'll definitely try again. Definitely for drinks at the bar and more fried oysters, and likely for the dinner atmosphere as well.Kid-friendliness: Definitely not somewhere I'd bring kids around. Not dangerous or anything, but not a lot of space to manage little ones.

Really good service in a serviceable bistro--real cool, excellent cocktails, and a standout burger.
