The Head Nut is a go-to store for dried herbs and spices, as well as assorted nuts, snacks, coffee, tea, etc. I have not found a better source in Philly for spices. Their turnover seems to assure fresh product, though if your timing is poor you may get the last of an item and might notice it shows its age. That said, The Head Nut is a regular stop for us.

Young girl at the cashier is very rude and unfriendly. Always with angry face.

The head nut is tiny and tight, but it's because they have such a selection! It is a must see/visit if you're a foodie, coffee or tea person! Great selection of jellies, jams, and old school candies and snacks. They have 2 locations, Ardmore, Pa and Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia.

Visited Apr 4 '25. They have whole white peppercorns, raw peanuts, Israeli couscous, nigella seeds, and dark chocolate covered almonds! Good prices too.

Greta variety of spices, nuts, and delicious high quality espresso beans. Highly recommend. They also have dried persian limes were are hard to find in Philly.

I don’t mind self service, but this place can be a little ridiculous. The concept is simple: find the item in the bucket that you want on the shelf and bring it to the front for dispensing. Only things on the shelf are not exactly well marked. and the people at the front desk have no idea what customer service is. I was looking for sugar. Simple enough. They couldn’t have been less helpful. Not a hello, not a thank you and they saw me roaming the aisles for 10 minutes trying to find sugar without pointing me in the right direction. There other places to get things at the market and I’ll be going there to get them because this place is nuts.

Such a range of products and literally every clerk I've ever interacted with there has been helpful and courteous. Bonus: If you pay cash, there's a cheaper rate than if you use a card. They're great all year round, but are particularly helpful for holiday baking. I always take visitors to Philly to the Reading Terminal Market and this is an inevitable stop on the tour.

This market was such an experience! I highly recommend. The food was beyond amazing we had, the pretzels, Cajun food, cheese steaks, oysters and more. The people were friendly and the atmosphere was great.

So much stuff! As someone who loves to cook, bake, drink tea, and try weird flavors, I could basically live here. Prices for most things are actually quite good too

They have a variety of cool spices and herbs but need to advertise their minimum $10 CC charge better. What store has a minimum $10 CC charge in the 21st century?

Bulk goods store with an impressive selection. Herbs, spices, grains, nuts, specialty ingredients, tea, coffee, candy, snacks. All VERY reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit!

Very helpful staff. I love their roasted almond nuts.

The Head Nut exceeded my expectations. I have been looking for Asher’s chocolates for years. Also surprised by the variety and quality of coffee offered. I will definitely return.

My favorite place for spices, coffee, tea. Bulk pricing in whatever quantity. Friendly, kind, knowledgeable, attentive staff. Both locations are places where I happily spend my money.
