It's the POPE. No bad time is ever had even if you bring 20 people with you on a whim.

One of my favorite local dive bars with a huge selection of beer. The food is always on point and the staff is top tier when it comes to service. The pope burger is hands down the best thing on the menu imo

This place is hands down one of the best bars in Philly! The chopped cheese here is a game changer—one of the best I’ve ever had. Seriously perfect every time! And if you’re lucky enough to have Bella or Ken serving you, your experience will be unforgettable! Don’t miss this spot!

POPE is our favorite place on Passyunk Ave. It's a great neighborhood bar with an impressive beer selection, friendly staff and quality food.

The place was recently shut down by L&I for health reasons. Even before that the staff were mostly hateful & discriminatory. Poor service, overreaching bouncer, overall psychosis. IDK if the unhealthy air made them this way? I wouldn't go in there. Especially since there are so many better bars just steps away.

Great bar with fantastic vibes. All of the bartenders are extremely nice and the service is always good. The food is fantastic, and its a regular spot for me and my partner. Beer selection is always on point too. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great bar and restaurant.

Really fun place that has everything I like in a bar - good drinks, good food, good vibes. It's not too loud so I can hear my friends and not too dark so I can see them!

Steep bar
Stopped by the pub on a whim while having a short stay on the south side. It was so great the first night that my partner and I came back on our second night!
Dim lit pub with elevated and affordable food menu. Was surprised to see the Croque Madame on the menu and had to have it, along with Chesapeake Fries, Chopped Cheese, Pierogies, Pickled Egg…(not all in the same sitting).
Aside from loving the bar aesthetic, Kevin made us feel like regulars, which was appropriate since our trip was to research housing. We sincerely loved the hospitality from him and the rest of the staff. Can’t wait to call Philly home and have the POPE as our new spot!

Met my partner here for an after work drink. The bartender was just rude. Miserable. Bro I get it I bartend too. But you made us feel unwelcomed uncomfortable and unwanted. I tried to get his attention and of course I don't know the guy's name so I say hey big dog. Apparently he took great offense. I offered my apologies and asked for him name. "Doesn't matter" . Tried to smooth it our by asking about his shift. "Great till you came in." Bro in this day and age that can be taken in many different ways. I'm indigenous. clearly ethnic. That statement can come with a ton racial implications. And since he wouldn't clarify how am I supposed to know what he meant.
Rarely ever make a review and I wasn't going to until my partner voiced how they felt and the concern they had. Just do better guys. We get it's late it's a long day. I don't even need great service just not uncomfortable service.
