Very pleasant experience. The food was fresh and consistent. Service was seamless and attentive. I thought the ambience was perfect, an intimate setting for date night that felt elevated without being stuffy. Grandma's wonton soup was good, just added a little soy sauce. My favorite was the salmon shallot roll - they let the fresh ingredients speak for themselves. Spicy rock shrimp was great, but maybe could be a slightly larger portion for the price. Also ordered and enjoyed the Fishtown and Rittenhouse rolls. This is definitely a new addition to my list of good, reliable sushi restaurants.

The rice in our sushi tasted old like it was sitting out and dried out. I mean it was practically crispy… the wonton soup had a like flavor to it, the wontons themselves were delicious. The lychee martini wasn’t strained well so it was grainy and just sour.
This spot has been on the list for a while and I was very disappointed by the price and the poor quality of the sushi.

rarely leave critical reviews, particularly given my own experience in front-of-house hospitality. The atmosphere at Tuna Bar is genuinely lovely, and as someone who has worked in Japanese cuisine for years, I was genuinely looking forward to dining here as a neighbor and fellow industry professional.

Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing. While seated at the bar, I was repeatedly overlooked — my cocktail was forgotten, and when it finally arrived after roughly thirty minutes, there was neither acknowledgment nor apology. Throughout the service, I attempted to engage courteously — even thanking the bartender and asking about the cocktail that seemed popular among other guests — yet was met with indifference.

What was most disheartening was not a single expression of gratitude or farewell. Fundamental gestures of hospitality — acknowledgment, attentiveness, and reciprocity — were absent. I left not out of impatience, but out of genuine shock that such a beautiful space could be so lacking in warmth and basic professional courtesy.

A good stop before evening theater at the Arden. Arrived in time to get happy hour drinks and appetizers that were yummy. Service was efficent without feeling rushed. Arrived 5:30 before a 7:00 pm show which was perfect timeing. The sake spritz cocktail was exceptional1. We all enjoyed our meals and there were plenty of gf and vegetarian options. May become a go-to before theater choice

Incredible experience as always. My wife and I moved so we are farther from Tuna Bar now but always worth the drive. Tina and the team are exceptional and always treat us amazing.

This place was AMAZING!!!! Food was spectacular and well presented. Service was attentive and personable. Ambience was what one would expect from a top notch sophisticated restaurant in old town Philadelphia. Would go back in an instant.

We had friends in town and this was the perfect place to catch up. The ambience hits the sweet spot of feeling elevated without being stuffy or pretentious. There was plenty of room for our table of 5 and we enjoyed sharing a selection of makis. As the only vegetarian in the group, I had plenty of options to choose from as well. The sweet potato maki in particular was very good. The cocktails are also creative and tasty.
