Full disclosure, I am a long-time regular from when Watkins first opened in 2010. It's my local, go-to bar and of course when it was changing ownership in the Fall 2024 I was concerned how much would change. I have to say that I am very happy with the new ownership and changes that they have been making. The beer list has been slimmed down, but they are open to customer recommendations. They have also enhanced their cocktail and liquor program with lots of new additions...
I have been a fan of Watkins since I moved to the neighborhood a few years ago. John, Mike, Jean, Becky, and Kate were, (and still are) great, and the atmosphere was perfect, but the food needed an upgrade. Exit John and enter Jack. The food has gotten a major upgrade, the same fantastic staff is in the house, and even the atmosphere has been improved. Say hello if you see me there and I'll buy you a drink.
Everything you loved about the old Watkins is still there (Jean, Mike, Becky and Katie)! But upgrades have been made under the new owners! There multiple new TVs so now it’s a great place to watch the game. The new food menu is bomb. They’ve got city wides! Couldn’t be happier with the changes!
