Perfect place in Philly for Mexican food and drinks. The Guacamole and Fish/Shrimp tacos are amazing. We love the surprise Tequila and Mezcal drinks that Kabila makes for us. This is the perfect place for date night or just starting off your night in Philadelphia before seeing Elton John.

Birria tacos were some of the best I’ve ever had.

The most bland Mexican food (and sangria) I've ever had. I would never recommend this place to my worse enemy. However, staff was very friendly :)

I had a really odd experience here last night.I decided to treat myself to dinner, and the waiter was nice enough to pull up an extra table and chair for me to eat outside. I ordered a Xochitl margarita, which was excellent, very strong and made just right. I also had shrimp tacos, which were a bit bland and the shrimp was a bit tough ,but hey, I was feeling good from the margarita- so it was all good. This is where it got weird. I was still hungry, so I ordered guacamole with red onions and cilantro. Other wait staff ( a guy doing double duty that had a white apron with all sorts of kitchen splatters on it) placed the chips on the table, weirdly smiled, and then took one of the chips out of my basket and put it behind his back. I thought he was going to start munching on it in front of me-or-I wondered if there was something on it. Then, it gets weirder. The waiter comes, after my food was placed down. He doesn't ask if I'd like another margherita, instead he places the check on the table. Um, Ok,I was going to order another drink. Do they need the table? Nope there are 3 other empty ones, at this point. Are they closing soon?. Nope. It's 2 hours before closing time. Ok , Maybe he thinks I'm not a big tipper (I am).So, I'm baffled, but I try my guac, and, well, it kinda sucked. It looked like something I could have made at home and was tart with lime. I questioned whether to send it back, but it was $15 on top of the other mediocre food I had. So, I told the waiter, and he was really uncomfortable about it, telling me the kitchen had to make guac and it would take a while. I guess they were having a guac shortage??? So, Being the chill person I am and since the waiter didn't offer to take the guac off my check, I figured it was a nice night and I'd wait. And wait. And wait. I waited for over a half hour. I kid you not. I saw tanother waiter apologize to another table for their guac taking so long. Really? Couldn't someone just go and buy more avocados?, To make matters worse, after waiting over a half hour for guac, the weird waiter comes out with a bag and puts guac that's in a plastic container and chips in a bag. Ok. So now I was insulted. I waited patiently without saying a thing all night and now I am obviously being given a doggy bag to go home, after you prematurely put a check on the table for $46 , and can't enjoy the night air? Okey Dokey. So, I take the bag. I walk home. I look in the bag and pull out the container and it had 2 tablespoons (if that) of guac in it. It was a joke. They were obviously out and just should have said so. They should have taken it off my check. What a joke. And yet, I still left the waiter over 20% for tip, because I am a business owner and try to support small business, but this was whacky. Obviously, they were having a bad night. But guys, If you are short staffed, have your kitchen people come out wearing black aprons( not white with splatters), and tell them not to take a chip out of someone's basket!, or place a check on the tablewhile the person is still eating, iand if you are out of avocados - just call it a night. It's not fair to charge people for this - really.

We made reservations for the wrong day at another restaurant (womp womp) so we walked around and stumbled upon this amazing spot!We had the crispy shrimp tacos and the birria tacos, and they were both delicious!!We also had the blood orange margarita and that was amazing, as well.Overall, one of our new favorites spots and we will definitely be back!

Real Mexican food. People choice guacamole sounded odd but so good. Drinks we got margaritas perfectly mixed. I had tacos and my husband had the enchiladas both were amazing. I usually never get tacos at a restaurant because I think it won't be enough food, this was enough, we both left stuffed and no room for dessert. Waiter was very kind. Will recommend to anyone in the area.

Amazing food and we had an exceptionally friendly server helped us. Portions were big and unbelievably delicious. Went there on a spur of the moment decision and don't regret it at all. Highly recommend checking it out!

Great place. Nice ambience. Lights were dim, and it is quiet (well it's Tuesday Jazzy and contemporary music was playing in the background. The food is delicious. It taste like one of the ingredients is love.

The food and atmosphere were perfect for a date night . I can't say enough good things about the food. I was disappointed by the waitress who took care of us, she made us feel very rushed despite having a reservation and asking tables around us questions that weren't asked of my boyfriend and I. We had planned to get dessert but she never asked if we wanted any but rather brought the check. I would've given a 5 star if not for her affect on our experience.

First time dining here tonight and it did not disappoint! The margaritas were fresh, the tuna ceviche was delicious and the tacos were awesome! We had a bit of a mishap with service in the beginning but the waiters were so kind about it they more than made up for it. Highly recommend trying this place out!!

Great ginger margueritas, food and service with plenty of metered parking on the block.

Wooooowwww. Now I thought I found the best Mexican places in the city but I was oh so very wrong. I went here about 6 years ago for happy hour and wasn't impressed, came back tonight for the full treatment and was left completely satisfied. Our bartender Kabira was super friendly, explained all of their specials and how fresh everything is. They had 4 special margaritas (pumpkin, ginger, prickly pear and pineapple/basil) I stuck with the basil ones the whole night and my boyfriend tried each of the other specials (his favorite was ginger). I could drink that pineapple basil one like it was water all day every day yum! We started with the chorizo queso which was PHENOMENAL. 10/10 would order again. Came out super hot, perfectly meaty pull-able cheese. We struggled for a bit whether or not we were going to grab dinner from here or just stick with the app and drinks. So glad we stayed because it gave me a chance to try the ever so popular birra tacos and him to try all the different special margs. I ordered the enchiladas suizas which were also great. But definitely will order the birra tacos next time and he can order something else. I was incredibly impressed overall, the bar was clean, music wasn't too loud, AND they had the eagles game on. When we finally decided to leave and call it a night we agreed we'd be back weekly. Definitely one of our new favorites!

Came here for the margaritas after reading many of the rave reviews but was extremely disappointed! When I saw the Prickly pear margarita on the menu, I got so excited! I have been craving for one since I had it in San Antonio a couple years back and never saw it on any menu elsewhere.. As soon as I took a sip, I knew something was wrong. Bland - not sweet and tangy like it is supposed to be but just bland. Still, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt so I tried the Guava margarita but it was just as horrible. Sorry guys but 2 stars only for the guac and chips. And I simply don't understand how someone can say Xochitl serves the "best" margaritas - that's a lie!

Located in a cute federal-style house just off Head House Square, Xochitl is a cozy spot for a drink at their spacious bar. We stopped in on a chilly Saturday evening for some pre-dinner margaritas, and found this spot to be a very relaxing way to spend a quiet evening. Their Perfect Margarita is quite good, and rivals anything I've had in Texas.
