The meal I got yesterday during our anniversary dinner- was definitely not worth the $35 price tag. I saw the crab cakes on a review and thought I’d try them. Just so so. The remoulade sauce tasted like boxed pasta salad sauce put in the side- you could even see the dried pepper flecks. The mashed potatoes were definitely a box variety- probably Hingry Jack and were so completely disappointing. The asparagus on the plate was the only good item- and there were only 4 tiny stalks given. This restaurant may have been good back in 2015- but is not very good anymore. Definitely would recommend another restaurant when visiting Phoenixville.

Wow, finally found a bad restaurant in phoenixville!

We’ve always wanted to try the Black Lab Bistro so we decided to book a reservation for 4:30 on mother’s day and brought my parents.
We arrive and we’re seated promptly the restaurant is not very busy. They take our order for appetizers and entrees at the same time. Appetizers come out relatively timely and are just okay the duck confit spring rolls are a little gamey but hey that’s duck.
We finish appetizers and then had to wait about 30 minutes for entrees to come out.
The smoked salmon fettuccine was very smoky and the fettuccine sauce was almost flavorless. Also feeling an upset stomach as I write this.
My wife ordered the chicken piccata. The chicken was terrible and extremely overcooked only ate a few bites and left the rest of the food on the plate. (Had to get takeout at Vecchia across the street)
Not once did the waiter come by to ask how everything was.

Overall the atmosphere of the restaurant was also nothing to write home about. Never will we be returning, honestly shocked at how long they’ve been in business.

Came out for mother day. They wanted like $30 for an omelette. The literally only had omelettes for Mother’s Day nothing else.

Same thing that you could get at a diner. Buko bucks, won’t be coming back.

This is a nice BYOB restaurant at the upper end of restaurant and brewery row in downtown Phoenixville. The food was quite nice, but I didn't realize it was BYOB until we were seated. It is deceiving because there is an old bar right ahead of you when you come in. Nice waiter, not overly attentive when it came to refills though. Must be from Europe. Overall nice atmosphere and relatively quiet, probably due to the lack of alcohol.

We stopped in for an early Sunday meal, and everything we ordered was delicious! We ordered three appetizers and a dessert. Everything was a work of art and delicious beyond expectations. The service was gracious, friendly and efficient. We will definitely return!

Quiet, relaxed atmosphere, service was good, but what I liked about this restaurant is the no rush…I hate to eat at a restaurant and they bring everything out an once (appetizers and meal) rushing you out. Not here I hope they don’t change. Had wonton, salmon, shrimp and grits, for dessert tiramisu and crème brûlée not disappointed everything was delicious. Definitely would come again and bring a bottle of wine 🍷 (didn’t realize it was byob)

We went to this cute restaurant last night before going to a show. The food and service were great. But what I wanted to mention is that we rushed to go see the show and I didn’t realize I’d lost my silver bracelet and my friend lost her hat. I didn’t think I’d ever see that bracelet again but the wait staff were waiting for us with both the bracelet and the hat. Big smiles on their faces! What wonderful people! Thanks again

The food didn't meet expectations but it was ok. Mine came out cold and the calamari's texture was a little soggy. We did enjoy sitting outside and people watching to pass time while we waited for our entrees.

Excellent service and delicious apps and entrees. It was our first time dining here and we will definitely be coming back!

Always a solid experience at Black Lab. The food is always great and service is usually good. I’d say the Caesar salad needs some flavor, was really bland. Calamari, Brussels sprouts and dumplings were delicious. Had the seafood pasta for my entree and loved it. Cheesecake was a bit mealy, not creamy. Always an enjoyable night out!

Service was good, menu had some highlights but food quality was fair. Tuna tartar overwhelmed with mayonnaise . We ordered the lamb rare and it came well done. Very disappointing.

Black Lab Bistro is always great! I've never had a bad meal here and the prices are reasonable. We love that it's a BYOB as well. We had 6pm reservations on a Friday night and were seated right away. It wasn't busy at that time but when we left, the restaurant was filling up. Our server was nice and very attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Love this place! I've been coming here for years and never had a less than great meal. Came in tonight with some family and the duck spring rolls and ribeye special and were fantastic. My family loved their crab cakes too. This intimate little BYO beats the crap out of all the brewpubs lining Bridge St. Don't sleep on this place!
