I've had pretty great experiences in the past with Alta Via (and I'm surprised that I haven't left a review for the Fox Chapel location until now), but tonight was unfortunately a disappointment across the board.

We were seated right away, but it took about 10 minutes for our waiter to come to our table, and they seemed quite rushed. It was another 10 minutes or so before they returned to take our order, and although our starters came fairly quickly, it took about 45-50 minutes to receive our entrees (all pasta). The pappardelle I had was lukewarm, and the short rib in it was underwhelming compared to times I've had it in the past (maybe it's changed since the last time I had it). Maybe it's also bias from the overall negative experience, but the portions felt smaller than usual as well, particulary with the full size one that I ordered

Maybe they were just having an off night, but it was particularly disappointing when we've have such great and consistent experiences in the past. We'll probably be back, but not as soon as we otherwise would be.

I ordered short rib parpadel. It was tough meat and really not good. Sent it back. I also ordered a Caesar salad. No Parm cheese or croutons. Really not good. Not worth the pictures.

Went for a nice dinner with the wife. Our waiter was awesome and attentive! We really enjoyed the bread, and the Fritto Misto you have to try it!

My Pappardelle was incredible but Deb unfortunately didn’t have the best Fusilli pasta. Great review overall though!

Our server, whom we've had multiple times, it's just a joy. The focaccia at the beginning is always a hit and it goes without saying that the pasta was delicious.

Our waiter, Adam, was friendly and made great suggestions for our meal. The food came out in a timely manner and was delicious (as always).

First, the service is great. We were there with young children (2 and 5) and have been many times. They do a very nice job asking how we wanted the meal paced, when to bring out the food for the kids, etc. Very clear to notice that our meal was much quicker paced than those around us but that is exactly what we wanted with our kids. It allows us to have a nice meal, keep the kids engaged and eating, and be wrapped up before we have to work hard to entertain them. So kudos on adapting service to your customers! Food is always very solid. It is a nice place so you're paying a bit more for the pasta than a fast-casual place, but it's a very good meal, served well, and always tasty. I'd also say the portion sizes are in-line, if not larger, than you'd expect for a nicer-sit down establishment. Will be back again!

Booked a Sunday dinner at 5:45 PM for four and were seated right on time. The restaurant was 3/4 full. Ordered a specialty cocktail and waited 20 minutes before it was on the table. It was good, but I can't say it was worth the wait. We ordered our food early in that time period and waited over an hour for it to be served, without much attention to our comfort or hunger. When I mentioned to the young lady (not our waiter) who brought part of the food to the table we'd been waiting so long she explained, “We're slammed.” We've enjoyed the pasta dishes many, many times; three of the four brought to table were significantly undercooked; my wife has Italian heritage and knows the difference between al dente and undercooked. There was no question these dishes were not up to the standards we've come to expect. The waiter removed the undercooked, luke warm pasta dishes, at my request without an apology simply asking, “Do you want something else?" After waiting so long for those dishes, there was no reason to ask for others; we finished the mussels and meatballs we'd ordered to compliment them, resolving that was enough food. I asked to speak to the manager who claimed she was unaware of the problem with the pasta dishes and apologized. I thanked her for her words and mentioned that, as a businessman, when I find it necessary to apologize to a customer, I back it up with something tangible. She didn't get that and simply said “Sorry” again. The place was crowded, loud and the wait staff rather scarce. Given the time it took for the cocktail and food to be served, I infer the bar and kitchen were understaffed too. We've truly enjoyed eating here many times in the past and yesterday's experience was an aberration. However, the waiter's failure to push the bar and kitchen to produce our food in a more timely manner, plus his and the manager's perceived indifference to our very negative experience leave us wondering if we should ever patronize this restaurant again.

If you are a person who loves to eat each course separately, you will love it here. My husband and I usually order 3 separate courses to share. A real bonus is that your server will give you fresh plates and silverware with each course. The food is yummy too.

Three of us celebrated one of our birthdays yesterday at noon. We all had the fall harvest salad which, we all agreed, was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was fabulous and the hostess contribute a delicious gluten free chocolate torte for us all to share. The restaurant is quiet, decorated in a welcoming fashion. The staff is intelligent, delightful and attentive. I highly recommend Alta Via in Fox Chapel!

Food took longer than normal as we were the second couple in the restaurant for dinner this evening. I came here about a month ago & food came out much sooner. They like if you order everything at once. Food is very good. Portions are good. Options are good.

Our waiter,Harry was always somewhere else. We had to ask for our bread service as he was bringing bread to tables that came in after us. Slow all around as my dinner arrived 5 minutes after the rest of the table. Just disappointed as it a first class restaurant.

Excellent meals for all of us... The Chicken orchietti was outstanding quite an improvement over the same dish a few weeks ago when someone else was on duty. Love the atmosphere.
