Had dinner here with some friends and it was overall a great dining experience. Lots of small plate options to share if you want to nibble before your entree arrives. We had Amaro flights after our meal, and the bartender came out and discussed the different amaros with us and let us see the bottles. As an added bonus, they are a gratuity-free establishment.

The drinks were fantastic, service was great. All the “appetizers” were delicious- we tried the focaccia, pea shoots, and chicory salad. The risotto and gnocchi was a miss for me- textures were off a bit, and the sauces lacked depth. Overall excellent place that I’ll definitely come back to try other things!

My wife and I ate at Bar Marco the night we were married. We just returned for our 10th anniversary and it was spectacular. We dined downstairs in the wine room and the food, service, atmosphere were all top notch.

They care deeply about the ingredients that they use and it shows.

I would say one of the better spots in Pittsburgh. Not just me but Pittsburgh Magazine also says so for what that's worth. The cocktails and bar staff were perfection with fresh ingredients. The food was perfectly prepared with attention to detail.

Bar Marco did an amazing job for our wedding. The food is so good that all of our vendors were thrilled when we told them the venue, and our guests similarly raved. The staff took the time to know our order of events and requests and accommodated accordingly. Highly recommend.

I had an amazing time here as a solo diner visiting Pittsburgh. My server, Michael, gave fantastic guidance on both the food and the wine - my only issue was finishing everything! The lamb gemelli in particular stood out and my to-go tiramisu held up great with a cup of coffee the next morning. It seemed like it would be a nice spot to enjoy as a couple or family as well so I look forward to returning with other dining guests and trying more things on the menu on a future trip!

Hadn’t been here for dinner in a while and decided to bring my mom for her birthday. The dining area is quite small so I would recommend a reservation! We were seated and greeted promptly. I started with a cocktail which was tasty. For starters, we ordered the focaccia, sformato, and the arancini. The focaccia and arancini were good, but the sformato was the standout. Would definitely recommend ordering if you’re there for the spring menu. For entrees, I had the bolognese bianco which was delicious and just the right amount of richness. My mom had the lamb orecchiette which she said she enjoyed. For dessert, we shared the rosemary hazelnut pana cotta, it was just the right amount of sweetness and something unique. Overall a great meal.

We had an excellent 5 course meal with wine pairings. They went above and beyond to make sure each meal was special, in season, and catered to our dietary needs! Drew was and excellent server and sommelier!!

I’ve been attempting to find a good, casual Italian spot in Pittsburgh. Had high hopes for Bar Marco on account of its high review score and pre fixe offering, but was disappointed by the end of the meal.

I’ll start with the positives:
- Located in a cool historic firehouse, calm atmosphere.
- First course of the pre fixe was excellent. We ordered the sunchoke chowder and the parsnip cake and both were great, nearly 10/10.
- Cocktails were good.
- No-tipping policy/assumed humane treatment of employees.

The strong start to the meal was quickly overshadowed by an abysmal second course. We ordered the gnocchi with pesto and gnocchetti with braised duck and tomato sauce. The gnocchi itself was falling apart in the sauce and had no discernible texture. The sauce on both dishes was extremely watery. The gnocchetti had large pieces of duck fat/skin in it that were inedible.

Overall, what started as an excellent experience was grounded by mediocre pasta in the last moments. Maybe we simply ordered the wrong thing, but not sure it’s worth the gamble to go back.

Absolutely stellar from start to finish. Incredible service, inventive cocktails, and unforgettable food in a dreamy, intimate atmosphere. The amaro flight alone would keep me coming back again and again.

We had our welcome event here the night before our wedding for around 80 people, and it was absolutely perfect! The upstairs event space is huge and Shelby and her team provided us with amazing cocktails, wine, beer, and heavy apps all night. Some of the best food and drinks in Pittsburgh, hands down! Thank you all again!
