We go every year in January and every year it’s better and better. My husband and I love it. There are rooms that people don’t spend a lot of time in and it ends up being so peaceful. Flowers are always beautiful

We were visiting friends in Pittsburgh and decided to check this place out. So glad we did. Unique and interesting. If you like plants - you’ll love it.

I have eaten there many . . times over the years. Sadly there has seen a steady decline in what used to be one of the top Cafes in the city. It was even ranked so by Food and Wine Today's lunch was not an exception to the downward trend. The menu selections were slim and didn't appear to follow any theme. In years gone by the offerings were often created to go with the tropical forest theme on exhibit. There was no such pairing today Before ordering we asked two times about the ingredients of some of the items. One person behind the counter was honest enough to admit that he didn't have any idea about what was in the soup and couldn't describe the Mediterranean platter either.
Finally, the cashier, who was very pleasant told us the curry soup was mostly a brothy soup with chicken and some veggies. We weren't sold on that offerings description. I settled on a portobella sandwich. Underwhelmingly small and served on a dry wheat bun.
It was with shredded cabbage served
Dry with a drop of a dressing that didn't get mixed in to the "slaw".
The other side dish was fresh fruit, also disappointing as some pieces were overripe and others not ripe at all. When I finish and was still quite hungry, I opted for a small bag of pretzels. The price was $2.14!
I asked who was in charge and was told Sodexo was the contracted operator of the Cafe. I was very disappointed as you can probably assertain from this post. I am only complaining because I wasn't it to get better.I want to go back to the Cafe at Phipps and I want the Cafe at Phipps to return to it's former greatness.
Phipps Conservatory is the best attraction in the city.
Please do what is necessary to fix this gem.

The food is mediocre at best. My friends each ordered the Harvest Salad. One came with bread and one without. My Focaccia Pizza Bread was cold. The staff were unfriendly to the point of being rude.
Meal prices were okay, however, a tiny bag of Smarfood popcorn was $4.
It wouldn't be my first choice to eat here again.

The quality of food is lacking. The menu looks good but what comes out is pretty disappointing.

We decided to eat lunch here after visiting the flower show, but we were disappointed. My kale white bean soup was too salty to eat. My husband and I got the harvest salad. It was underwhelming with wilted lettuce and just oil instead of vinaigrette dressing.

Food sucks, hire ups sucks, only good person is the supervisor ivan he will help you if you have dietary needs.
BESDIES HIM canned food for everything. Don't let them tell you the artichoke is fresh its from a Can.
Worked here for 2 years so I know.
Nothing is fresh everything is from a can or bag.
only things come from the garden in a blue moon.

This cafe is inside the Phipps welcome center. Its menu lists salads, sandwiches, pizza breads, beverages, and more. The cafe often uses ingredients that are local and organic. Options are available for people who have dietary restrictions.

For my meal, I enjoyed a harvest salad and thought that a BBQ sandwich was OK.

Regardless of the season, its always nice to visit Phipps and check out whatever blooms they have happening at the time. Its a nice way to feel closer to nature, and to embrace the tranquility of mostly indoor gardens. Christmastime is also especially nice with the annual display that they put on.

Makes me sad to see all these 1-star ratings for this place. The food was very good and used fresh ingredients. I see why food & wine rated it one of the best museum cafes. The sandwich was freshly made and the soup was excellent! Service was good and comparable with other cafe styles. The prices weren’t bad for the freshness of all the ingredients. Something comparable at a non-museum cafe would be at least 6-7 dollars more per item.

I love this place, I do think they should have pop to buy and not just beer. During the summer they should have a room for just kids. Water play, dirt to play in and maybe a little art and craft area. Over all the flower are amazing and the place are so friendly
