Chaya offers pretty authentic sushi & sashimi with reasonable pricing. I know that when I see wasabi between the fish and the rice of a sushi. I've ordered takeouts from here a couple of times after fall 2020 and find their ingredients very fresh. For sushi and sashimi, they have all the common choices (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp etc.). As a Pittsburgh native, I was introduced to Chaya several years ago and I have visited many times. I have always been impressed by the authenticity to traditional Japanese cuisine and I have learned a lot. Without a doubt the best sushi in Pittsburgh, and one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Chaya has been a default for us for celebration dinners, including a particularly special and memorable kaiseki birthday dinner before the pandemic. During the pandemic, Chaya has been a takeout highlight. This is traditional sushi, not bombastic $25 rolls with seventeen ingredients. Their cooked Japanese food is great as well.
