Food was good. The establishment could use some renovations. I felt the staff hovered too much.
Great little spot for authentic szechuan
The best sushi in Pittsburgh!
Incredible food and service, try the green beans!
Amazing experience, great traditional food. Great service with kind employees. Price is worth, thanks.
Overwhelmingly mediocre experience. Extremely overhyped in my personal opinion, as I found that the food is very suited for a more mild, American taste. I am Chinese, and at many Chinese restaurants even in Pittsburgh, I tend to find food too flavorful or spicy. However, at Chengdu Gourmet, I found most dishes to be pretty bland honestly, and not spicy at all. Even signature dishes like mapo tofu weren’t that flavored. In addition, I personally found almost all dishes to be drowned with oil and starch, to the point where all I could taste was the slick, gloopy film that clung to every bite. The vegetable dishes I’ve tried were especially difficult to finish. Each time I visit, I try a different dish, but I’m sorry to say that all dishes missed the mark- there is not a dish I would recommend.
To their credit, this restaurant has some of the nicest waitstaff I’ve seen around Pittsburgh. The receptionist and hostess who takes care of take-out orders is exceptionally sweet, and she made the experience much better than it would have been. Our waitress was also amazing!
Food is fantastic and prices are good. We ordered from the Authentic Menu and our server, Sam’s, guidance and humor just made everything better. Thank you!
p.s. The heat builds up, but you can’t stop eating it. I recommend ordering extra rice to keep plain or bubble tea when your mouth needs a cool down.
Best Chinese restaurant in Pennsylvania.
Awful egg rolls, no shrimp in them, pasty taste....and were cold...frozen are better!
Ordered hot tea...never brewed. She brought more w more teabags..still didn't brew.
Honey walnut chicken was not real flavorful.
Walnuts were the best thing here.
Will not be back.
The food was excellent. Our waiter Garret was fantastic! We will definitely be back.

We love going to Chengdu Gourmet. We frequent this restaurant a couple times a month and the staff knows us and are always so kind and nice to talk with. The food is top notch, we always try to get something new when we go and we are never disappointed. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant if you want authentic Chinese food.
Amazing food and service, reasonably priced and authentic!
The food here is fantastic. They have a traditional American Chinese menu then more of an actual Chinese menu and that's where you find the special items. I've been here four times now and haven't been able to not order the Chengdu Pork Belly yet because I love it so much. But everyone I've brought here, has enjoyed their choices as well. Little bit of a diamond in the rough.
Really great food, impressive menu. They aren't scared of spice/heat either! 🙂
Generous portions and so delicious! Prompt, courteous, and kind service. A wide variety of American and Chinese cuisine options. We got kung pao chicken, pork soup dumplings, and spicy beef stew. Bubble teas too! I can't wait to come back and try something new.
