My husband & I had dinner at the Mill House & we were very disappointed! It took forever to be greeted by the bartender to finally get a seat. Once she took our drink order, it took forever for her to make them bc she was having a conversation w guests at the bar. I understand she can't ignore them but she should be able to multitask. Then once the drinks were made, she stood there w them in her hands & continued to keep talking to the same guests. She took our order & we had ordered 2 appetizers & 2 burgers w minor modifications. She had to come back to us bc she couldn't remember what the order was. My husband's burger came out almost immediately after the appetizers & she forgot my burger! One thing I was also confused about was the burrata & heirloom appetizer. There weren't any tomatoes. Although the food was good, the service was disappointing. She was very nice but didn't pay much attention to detail. You also charge for valet which is absurd being that there isn't any parking & we were spending money to eat at the restaurant. We were really looking forward to a great experience there but was sadly disappointed. Thank you for your time & hopefully you will take these points into consideration. Best, Monique Osburn

I made a reservation for the dining room but when we arrived I was told the dining room was closed and we could take a seat in the bar area. (which is super loud). Later I overheard the bartender telling someone else she wasn't interested in walking down the stairs to wait on anyone. The food was so salty I left the majority of it on my plate. Conversely, my husbands dish had no seasoning! Don't think we'll go back there again. Too bad because it used to be a good restaurant.

Great service and excellent food. Unique pours that you won't find anywhere else! We were part of a group for our first time there and had a great experience at the bar. Our second time included a small private party with an intimate dining experience. Both times were met with top notch service and everyone was blown away by the quality of the food. There is something for everyone!

Christian James is under transition by Hilton. They do not have the staff to accommodate dinner. Do not make reservations or dine here. It's fine for a drink or a quick bite. Otherwise make alternate plans.

Long wait to be greeted once we walked in even with a reservation. I still had to wait a while for a table. Another long wait for a server to take our order. Food came cold after a long wait on top of running out of steak after our order was already placed.

Poor service and staff had really poor attitude. We would not recommend to family or friends.

Overall service was slow, waiter did not return to fill up water glass. Appetizer came out after the meal came out. Wine was ordered and showed up 30 minutes after we ordered a glass of wine.

Poor service and a lack lust meal made for a not so good first experience. First the bread was not soft, the chicken for my wife's salad was so dry it was hard. My salmon was the must redeeming feature of the meal with the risotto been a bit under done. It was valentines day and i only remember seeing one server and that may explain the poor service with the lack of filling water glass or a check up. However i still blame the restaurant for being under staff on a day that many will want to have a great experience. We don't plan on giving them another chance.

We had dined here previously and found it to be excellent. However the restaurant was bought out by the hotel. Not remotely the same experience. VERY limited menu, not what is listed on the current website. Food is extremely overpriced for the quality. Very unfortunate change.

This was the most hilariously embarrassingly terrible experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. That includes Wendy’s. I’ll try to use bullets to sum it up as efficiently as possible:
1. Hostess couldn’t find our reservation (despite us both having email confirmations). Said she could ~squeeze us in anyway~ like it was doing us a big favor. Meanwhile the place was 1/5th full (on New Year’s Eve) and we HAD RESERVATIONS.
2. After being seated, no one came to the table for 15-20 min. Eventually the hostess brought us waters.
3. Another 15 min, hostess comes back and asks us if a server has been over yet. Nope. So she takes our drink order. (Again this place is NOT busy, like at all)
4. Fire alarm goes off telling everyone to evacuate the building, which no one did and no one explained what was happening. Seemed like a regular occurrence.
5. She brings our drinks at which point we’re like okay let’s just order food while we have you here.
6. Unknown person brings our food. It’s fine? Really underwhelming but I’m really not that picky.
7. A full hour passes. We have yet to meet our server, if such person exists. Our drinks are empty, no one asked how the food was or if we needed anything or even looked our direction.
8. A kitchen employee comes to take our plates away (nice guy, but felt like he was just taking the plates to clean up and clock out- don’t blame him, I couldn’t wait to leave either). I asked him for a box which he brought.
9. Another 40 minutes go by with empty drinks, empty plates, we have our COATS on at this point. A server or manager of some kind keeps visiting the table next to us and absolutely refuses to even look our direction. We could’ve said excuse me to ask for a check, but at this point it was hilarious.
10. We hear a server say “okay I’m clocking out” lmao this was the first time I even saw her. Meanwhile the hostess is across the room rolling silverware. We assume at this point we are invisible and are just free to go.
11. Hostess comes back over and says “how did everything turn out guys” 😂😂😂😂 we ordered the food almost 2 hours ago and this is the first time anyone asked haha. We’re very ready to get out of here.
12. She brings the check and says she gave us a discount for “our patience” but we didn’t get a chance to look at the check bc she waited at the table for us to get our credit cards out and then just took the cards and the check back. At quick glance I saw it was $110 so whatever discount she gave was a joke.
13. I’ve never not left a tip in my life and have excessive patience for industry workers, but I honestly didn’t know who the tip would go to?? I left $5 which I’m hoping goes to the guy who got me the box.

We managed to have a nice time bc the place was practically empty and we just enjoyed eachother’s company and being left alone haha but dear god that was a tragic.

Unfortunately! Our service was not good. We were seated on the second level where the bar is. It took 20 minutes before someone to came to the table to offer drinks. Food came out slow. The quality of the food was not worth the price. Fortunately! The ladies(3 all together) were great.

Started typing my review and there is a word limit so will be more concise. Don't recommend this restaurant. Food was okay but not spectacular as the price would tell you. Went for new year eve dinner and i feel like it was ruined. Fire alarm going off. Took 15 mins after taking our seats to be acknowledged by a person for water mind you that person was the hostess not waitress. Never saw a waitress that night! Got a 10% discount but should have been more honestly. We were there for hours and only got 1 drink each and an entree. Wanted more but service was horrible did not. Met the dishwasher when he came to get our plates so he could go home. Took forever to get the bill, honestly we shouldn't have gotten a bill and probably should have walked out with how long it took. Never saw the waitress but did hear someone I'm assuming is the waitress yell that she was clocking out. Not sure what is going on and how they can remedy it but will not be back.

The restaurant appears to be mismanaged. I found it to be overpriced for the quality and proportions. The restaurant is attached to the Joinery hotel. We stayed in the hotel and ate in the restaurant a few times during our stay. They were out of many items. For example: I ordered a full breakfast one morning, and asked for jelly. I was told there was no jelly. Really? Out of jelly? The next day, we ordered parfaits to go. After we left, we realized each parfait maybe had one tablespoon of yogurt in the bottom. The parfaits were terrible... almost inedible. I've never had a situation like this where everyone in my party was unhappy. Needless to say, I don't recommend, and I wouldn't eat here again.

Our recent Christmas dinner experience at Christian James was unfortunately disappointing. Despite having reservations, we initially waited for acknowledgment upon arrival. Service was slow, the food was mediocre and definitely did not justify the high prices.
For example, the $23 bruschetta consisted of only four small pieces of bread with minimal toppings. The pasta was average, comparable to a homemade version using inexpensive ingredients. The chicken was small and dry.
To further compound the issue, the fire alarm sounded for a significant portion of our meal. Ultimately, we left feeling underwhelmed and unsatisfied with the overall dining experience.
