Coffee shops do not get any better than this. A quiet oasis in Northside. Including the most beautiful outdoor seating options in a little neighborhood park.

This is probably my favourite coffee shop I've been to in the world. I mean that literally. Let's do some calculations to amplify the weight of that statement. I would consider myself well traveled. Rome, Paris, Sydney, Tokyo, Florence, London, Boston, New York, Salt Lake City, Boulder, Miami, Tampa, Marseille, Hoi An, Canberra, Melbourne, and Pittsburgh, PA represent 17 cities across 7 countries. To estimate how many coffee shops we are dealing with we can use aggregate population data. For example, in New York City (pop. ~8.5 million) there is an estimated ~3,400 coffee shops (including chains and independents). That’s ~1 shop per 2,500 people. Extrapolating that estimate to all cities we can make a conservative estimate of 500 coffee shops per 'large' city (ignoring confounding variables such as the 'coffee-centricity' eg. Seattle.) Utilizing the formula for finite populations, we can estimate the margin of error in representing an entire city by visiting a smaller sample of the total population. Visiting at least ~10 shops per city gives us a margin of error of 31.5% which while not statistically significant can be representative enough considering the restrictions concerning travel. I can confidently say I have visited at least 10 per city, meaning that within that margin, commonplace in the northside is the best coffee shop in the world.

Amazing little cozy Cafe off the main strip. With a little garden across for great ambiance. The café itself is nice and cozy with a cool boutique look inside with decent size seating. Ordered their iced lavender latte. It came out very watery. I could only taste water and lavender not the coffee. May need to try it hot. Also ordered a coffee cake. Slightly stale and clearly pre-made from a bit ago. Or at least how it looked and tasted. Service was subpar sadly. May come again.

It was my first time visiting Commonplace Coffee in Pittsburgh, PA, and based on the advertisements, I decided to order their current seasonal Cherry Pie flavoured iced latte, with a piece of Coffee Cake. I honestly didn't enjoy the latte too much, it seemed very watery and I didn't get any hint of cherry flavour which I was hoping to try. As for the Coffee cake, I don't believe they baked it themselves but it was soft and tasty. Service was okay and the coffee shop is clean and seems modern inside with a beautiful exterior. The coffee shop is also near a little park which is lovely if the weather is nice outside. Thank you

Exceptional espresso in an uber cool area. Plenty of seating inside and out and a lot of character in the building.

This is a most excellent coffee shop with a wide array of snacks and goodies. My wife and I go out of our way to come to this spot on our way into Pittsburgh because the people are super friendly, the drinks are delicious, and the overall vibe is incredible. I cannot recommend this coffee shop enough.

I've been here more times than I would like to admit LOL. Literally the best and cutest coffee shop around. The workers are always super nice and welcoming and their iced matcha lattes are *chefs kiss*. They have inside and outside seating and sometimes they have food trucks outside as well.

This little coffee shop is a pure gem. I visit Pittsburg at least once a year for work, and make sure I stop in at Commonplace every time. Their pour over coffees and espressos are fantastic, and baked goods always hit the spot. It’s the perfect little place (whether in the cafe or in the park) to get a relaxing moment.
