I’ve talked about nothing else but this tomato whipped butter for the past three days
Honestly the meatballs here are worth the visit alone - I've never had meatballs that tasted complex, so rich and interesting. Everything was fantastic, their wine menu is superb, the cool atmosphere with the wall of plants - I'm definitely coming back here to try the chicken parm. I had the arctic char as my main and it was delicious, perfectly cooked, just the right amount of food. Also tried the Calabrian pesto, which was A+. Rich, nutty interesting.
Great service, knowledgeable, easygoing and not rushed like in so many other restaurants. Food was original, well presented and very delicious - we shared the focaccia with a spread, three small plates (duck, risotto and mussels) and each of us four also had an entree (2x pasta, 2x fish). Would certainly visit again for a special occasion. Best restaurant in Pittsburgh so far for us.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary for the second year in a row at Fish nor Fowl and had a lovely dinner. We were sat at the back near the garden wall, and while the lights were a tad too dim (we had to use our phones to illuminate the menus), it was cozy and quiet for the most part of the evening. We had the foccacia and whipped ricotta, a small charcuterie board (2 cheeses and 1 meat item), a shared caesar salad, and two off-menu items: the grilled octopus with tomato sauce and white beans, and the squid ink mafaldine with lump crab and bonito. Both were VERY excellent, although the lump crab kinda got lost at the bottom of the pasta dish and we think a sturdier seafood item like shrimp or scallops might be better for the dish. Also both dishes were spicy so ymmv on these dishes. We also had two desserts: the blood orange panna cotta and the brownie ala mode (very sad that they no longer served the chocolate mousse, which was a fave). Both were a nice ending to the dinner. Shoutout to our server Sarah who was very knowledgeable about the items on and off-menu and who checked on us regularly. Looking forward to our next meal here.
Last night was our first visit to Fish nor Fowl. It proved to be quite a culinary delight!! We started with the buckwheat focaccia bread which was delicious with the accompanying dipping oil but we chose to add the tomato butter dip which was sinfully good....so good that I almost felt compelled to go to confession......for the first time in 40 years. We sampled some meat (bresola) and cheese (gorgonzola) both of which were amazing. For entreés, we had the bucatini Amatriciana and the nightly "special" of filet mignon with truffle oil fries. The bucatini proved to be one of the best preparations of that dish that anyone could ask for. The bucatini was cooked perfectly and together with the sauce created a dish that pasta dreams are made of!!! The filet mignon was delicious and prepared to a perfect medium. We couldn't stop picking at those fries even after we decided that we couldn't eat another bite..... HOWEVER, we couldn't resist sharing the Italian apple tort with vanilla ice cream for dessert... which proved to be the final ace in the deck!! In addition, the service was impeccable. Thanks to all for a great dining experience! Fish nor Fowl proved to be yet another feather in the cap of the Richard Deshantz restaurant group!! Can't wait to return!
BEST EXPERIENCE 10/10. Our server Jesse and Alex, the GM, rocked and gave my boyfriend and I amazing service; food immaculate, perfect atmosphere… I literally could not rave more about this place and this team. There wasn’t a WHISPER of a mistake in our experience- and that is an understatement. It will be my pleasure to come here again.
Incredible food and incredible staff. I truly have nothing negative to say about this establishment. It's great for a birthday, special event, or a fancier night out!
Eating at Fish nor Fowl was an extraordinary experience. The server was friendly and honest. Her recommendations were perfect. The wines were excellent and unique. They were carefully chosen to compliment the food with reasonable pricing and a focus on quality over known label. The food was a perfect balance of flavor, aroma, and texture. The chef has clearly given careful thought to ingredients that compliment while still adding an element of surprise. The ending was equal to the meal and buckwheat bread appetizer. A tiramusu in large ramekin with crunchy small balls of chocolate was delightful. The apple tart had a burst of flavor with thick crust that provided the right balance. The GM took the time to talk with us and shared his passion for food, wine, and baseball. For fine dining in a warm setting, it doesn't get better than this!
Made a reservation for our mothers birthday, after them being very thorough and insisting that we put a credit card down for said reservation, and having us confirm about 40 different times, they shut down for “mechanical issues” on the day of our reservation and made no attempt to contact or alert us of them closing down and being unable to honor our reservation anymore, currently waiting to see if credit card is charged, if that happens please expect an even worse review. Absolutely appalled at this.
Delicious food, a little pricy but expect high quality flavors with intentional subtlety.
We had the foccacia with whipped ricotta, chicken parmesean with a side of pasta with red sauce and mussels with grilled bread. If you get the mussels, save your bread from the foccacia because you literally get an entire loaf of bread! And the sauce with the mussels are delicious!

Really great food in a comfortable atmosphere with impeccable service. It's absolutely worth the money.
Yummy. Great service but pricey.
Stopped by for a light late dinner and everything was exceptional. Delicious focaccia with calabrian peppers and burrata with olive oil, amazing meatballs in meat sauce accompanying well made cocktails. Excellent service from start to end. I will become a regular!!
The bread, ricotta,.and artichoke were worth the price of a thousand admissions. They outshined the main course (Bolognese).
Lovely dinner at this place. Dominique our server was the star of the night, he was amazing.
Our apps were great. Our entrees were good but considering the price it was not unbelievable, but still they were really good. But the attention, the server was fenomenal, attentive to the needs of the table and super kind to us. I will go back.
