Pros- Focaccia was beautifully executed and so delicious. Pasta was perfectly cooked to al dente. Portions were generous. Dessert menu was interesting and both options we chose were excellent. Cons- Very slow service. Crazy slow. Pasta was oversauced. Duck was not good at all. Had one of the worst cocktaills we can remember. Overall- Would come back for a glass of wine and some focaccia at the bar. Would be a perfect way to kick off an evening in Shadyside or surrounding areas. Cool vibe.

Our server was great, place is cool, bread and cheese were tasty, but our pastas were either quite tasteless or very heavy!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The entrees are creative plays on classic Italian dishes, the sides are well executed and the appetizers are incredible. The most dangerous thing is the buckwheat focaccia. It's fluffy, soft and flavorful, and the variety of dipping options are mouthwatering individually. I love the vibe of the restaurant. It's hip without feeling forced, the staff is friendly and they play cool music. It's a great date night spot. Major drawback is the parking. It's on-street, and a crapshoot at best to find a spot near the door. But don't let that stop you from checking this place out. It's worth the trip. Pricing is in-line with most upscale dining in the city but not at the extreme upper end.

We have been going to Fish Nor Fowl since it opened. We are huge fans of the Richard Deshantz restaurant group. The food was amazing, as always. Alexander was personable and knowledgeable about the wines and food. He went above and beyond to make our dining experience very enjoyable. This is a great restaurant with a well executed and diverse menu.

Appetizers, ambience and service were all outstanding. However, the main courses were not as impressive as in the past. The arctic char dish I ordered was too creamy, served in a heavy white sauce that tasted as if it was mostly mayonnaise. Another guest in our party similarly remarked that the appetizers were very delicious (our table had whipped ricotta, focaccia bread, artichokes), but his entree was only average. I was much more impressed a year ago when I first dined at Fish nor Fowl. Our visit last night was pleasant enough but overall, the main courses were underwhelming.

Really enjoyed our meals..myself and my wife both had the chicken parm and it was absolutely delicious!! Got to meet the GM Alexander and he couldn't be more friendly and gracious. Loved the wall of plants and the upstairs bar was cozy for an after dinner cocktails. Look forward to trying other items on the menu.

Came here with two friends. Very cute inside, food tasted really good but portion sizes were very small (not even a full duck breast) especially for the prices. Server forgot to bring 2 different items out for our friends and service was a bit slow - manager came over to ask us to move to the bar because they needed the table but didn't check with the server if the check had been dropped off (it hadn't). Not planning to return as it does not seem worth the cost for the portion size and service.

Truly was perfect! The wait staff was fantastic! They were patient, they took time to describe each menu item, and they also took a last minute addition to our party. The hype, and the reviews I read were all accurate! It was a great experience and I encourage everyone to check this restaurant out!

Exceptional first experience at Fish nor Fowl! Every morsel was full of flavor. We started with the chickory salad on the feature menu which was crispy and lightly dressed. The steak tartar was served in a bone with lightly toasted focaccia. Our entrees were both equally delicious. We missed the opportunity to enjoy the homemade pastas so there will need to be a return visit! The menu is at the top end our dining budget but the quality is there so recommend for special occasions.

Everything was fabulous. We were on the outside patio so can't speak for the noise level inside. We ordered the white bean and the whipped ricotta dip with the house bread, the endive salad, carrots, crisp duck and stuffed shells. Split between 3 of us was just perfect. The cocktails were also excellent. We will definitely return.
