We were underwhelmed by the chef's sushi plate. Of the five pieces, one was delicious, one was quite good and three were nothing special. At $52 for the plate, all five should have been delicious. We also had some hand rolls. The mushroom is a standout. We felt like we were being a bit rushed - like asking about dessert while we still had dinner in front of us. But it was an above average experience and we'll definitely give it another go!
Overall experience was good.
Started with the beef tataki - would not recommend. The night market sauce, whatever that is…was giving Mr. Yoshida teriyaki, but way too salty. It overpowered the beef and there was no way to cleanse your palate between bites nor to avoid the sauce.
Red crab hand roll could have used more crab and less mayo.
It got so much better though, seafood was very fresh. The best bites of the night...

Louder than usual near the end of our dinner, but that wasn't an issue. We could still (mostly) hear each other talk. The service and food were exceptional, as always. Gi-Jin remains my favorite Pittsburgh restaurant for a reason.
