The atmosphere was fantastic, the service was attentive, and the food was excellent. What truly stood out was how accommodating they were with my gluten-free needs. Chef Phil personally walked me around each station, carefully explaining what I could eat, and even offered to prepare vegetables separately in the back to ensure there was no gluten exposure. That level of care and attention made me feel completely comfortable and taken care of. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for anyone with dietary restrictions.

My wife and I had a great time at the Grand Concourse in December 2025. The food was delicious and the ambiance was excellent. Our server, Neil, was very polite and courteous. Neil took time to explain the menu to us, and also took the time to explain to us some interesting things to do during our trip to Pittsburgh. We would love to return again in the future.

The atmosphere here is outstanding! The old train station features paired with the classy dining upped the experience tenfold. Along with that, the staff is absolutely amazing, hospitable, and professional. We had Neil as our waiter, and he is the most catering and personable I’ve ever met in my dining experiences. He knows a lot about the history, and made our experience comfortable and classy, even going out of his way to take care of us. It is easy to tell he is extremely passionate about Grand Concourse, and making sure guests have a positive experience. My fiancé and I were celebrating our engagement; Neil and the restaurant took very good care of us! I would most definitely come back just for the staff alone. The food itself was also to die for! They print menus every night, and brought back many seasonal and original dishes from when they first opened. The food was cooked to perfection, and I was craving more.

My husband and I were born and raised in Pittsburgh but have never eaten at the Grand Concourse. We finally had the opportunity this past weekend for a night out in the city and it was an excellent dining experience making the evening extra special. We first started with a couple signature cocktails, neither of us being mixed drink drinkers, but I’m glad we did! My husband had the smoky cherry manhattan and I had the espresso martini. Both drinks were amazing! Since I am a huge fan of lobster bisque, I had to try it and was not disappointed. As a matter of fact, I think theirs is the BEST I’ve ever had. The main course, sea bass with risotto was done perfectly. We got an extra side of vanilla sweet potato mash that was simple and delicious. Our server, Taylor, made our evening more special with her pleasantness and knowledge of the menu and sharing her suggestions. This was an extra special evening because my husband and I actually had our wedding photos taken there more than 30 years ago. We were married around the holidays and the weather was dreadful for photos. The Grand Concourse was nice enough to allow us in for a few photos on the steps with the Christmas trees. We will certainly be back again to this Pittsburgh treasure!

I hadn’t been there for many years having moved out of state. The meal and service were both fabulous and the setting is one that can give you goosebumps by being so beautiful! Neil was above and beyond in friendliness and professionalism. The crab cakes are awesome. I’ll return again soon!

Consistently great; however, we chose to go there on a recent night expecting the Grand Concourse to be decked out for Christmas. It had no Christmas decor sadly. Ambiance still beautiful though and the food was very good as usual.

A profoundly disappointing experience. I'm assuming GC overbooked for Thanksgiving. Our reservation was for 3 people at 6:30pm. When we arrived, it was pure chaos, and at check-in we were told that reservations were running about an hour behind. We figured, fine — we'd grab a drink, chat, and then enjoy our meal. The bar was slammed; it took quite a while to get even basic drinks (a glass of wine and a bourbon). Tables weren't being cleared, and bus staff were pushing dish carts through the already crowded bar area. When we were finally called to be seated, the host began walking us to our table when a random group of people sat themselves at it. To the host's credit, he pivoted quickly and was able to seat us right away at another table. We had no idea who our server was, but since it was buffet-style, we just went up and got food on our own. The food: bland, many trays nearly empty, and overall noticeably lower quality than in previous years. The dark meat turkey was so dry it was inedible. Most items felt like low-grade cafeteria offerings, not what we've come to expect from the Grand Concourse in the past. The service: our server first came to the table about 15 minutes after we were seated. We had to ask passing staff for napkins and water. She was fine after that initial visit, but the lack of basic attention and supplies at the start was disappointing. Needless to say, we won't be back. It's a shame, because we've had positive experiences with the Thanksgiving buffet here in previous years.

We had a 5:30 reservation and waited 45 minutes to be seated. The lobby was horribly crowded because everyone was waiting 45 minutes past their reservations. This was terrible! Never happened to us before here. We have a reservation for Christmas also and we are wondering if we are going back.

Our reservation was for 4:45, we showed up about 4:35 but the valet line was long so we had to wait a while and then check in for reservations had a long line as well, by the time we checked in for our reservation it was 5 and we were told that there was about a 45 minute wait still. We finally got seated at 5:50, over an hour after our reservation time. Due to a disability we were supposed to be close to the buffet table but we were not. Our waitress wasn't very friendly and made no attempt to explain the set up until we asked. As far as the food, they did a very nice job of refilling the hot foods as quickly as they could and everything was labeled. I was disappointed that the utensils were not replaced regularly as I noticed food crusted on the handles and then the utensils were slipping into the food, this definitely has the potential to make a lot of people sick. The cold foods/desserts could have been labeled as it was hard to determine what things were. For the most part the food was very good, the stuffing could have been better and the desserts were just ok, unless you had the donuts or bananas foster those were delicious. I loved the ambiance of the Grand Concourse, the building is stunning. I felt as though the service for sure could have been better. I also can't believe that you were charging $25 for valet parking, for like a 2 hour dinner, usually valet for dinner in the area is around $10. Next year I may try somewhere else as I was a bit disappointed.

Don't go on Thanksgiving Day. Had reservations but still had to wait one hour. Food was terrible and cold. Was looking forward to attending as it is also my birthday. The holiday was ruined.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving! The food was fantastic, the service was great as well as were the servers and other employees! Great atmosphere.

A wonderful experience for a special birthday with family - chosen because we have always felt this restaurant is 5 🌟. To begin with Neil is an exceptional server. Customer service the best which added to the awesome dining experience. He was incredible providing some history as well. The dinners ordered were Lobster, Salmon and Surf and Turf. Presented and prepared beautifully. The rolls exceptional. So kind that a complimentary birthday desert which was brought out. All 4 of us had a very special night with the expertise of Neil and the quality of food that makes the reputation of the Grand Concourse the best in Pittsburgh.
