I just read of the passing of Gus, at 92. We're sorry for your loss. We've only been in Pittsburgh a short time, but I'm glad we were able to meet him!

Gus & Yiayia's is a Pittsburgh must-do. Even if not from Pittsburgh, one can appreciate the nostalgia of Gus and his old time ice ball cart. The ice is hand shaved to order. The syrup flavor selection has many options to enjoy alone or as a combination. Summer in a cup! Popcorn and bottled water are also available for sale.

Best ice cones and popcorn since 1934! Gus put two kids and helped two grandkids get thru college with hard work running this cart biz! Park here, Grab a bag of popcorn on your walk to Heinz Field. Tennis courts and national aviary mins away.

Gus and Yiayia’s is a food cart that opened several decades ago and sells ice balls, popcorn, and peanuts. Prices per item are roughly a couple dollars. The menu for ice balls listed over a dozen flavors. I ordered a combination of cherry and orange. The employees spoke nicely to me, and the cup of flavored ice that they made was very flavorful.

The charm of eating a hand-shaved icy ball on a sticky bench while watching some guys you don't know play tennis on a warm summer evening cannot be overstated.
