The last time I was there, we had a not so great experience. Long wait for mediocre food and pretty awful service. Haven’t been there in almost a year because of that. Decided to give it another shot…thank goodness I did! Our food and beer was great, but the service was even better! Our server was super attentive and sweet; she also gave us awesome recommendations on food. Our appetizer and meals came out very quickly! After dinner we went to the bottle shop next door. We were again met with wonderful recommendations and service. Will be back again soon!

Welp. It’s saddens me to say that tonight was my last time at Hal’s. I’ll certainly miss the buffalo chicken rolls.
Ordered a Manhattan and asked the bartender to do whatever it took to make sure it was filled to the rim… She did that and it was fantastic(not mention, she forgot to put the bitters in there..no big deal). Buddy of mine asked me if I wanted another and I said sure. The bartender asked me “if I was driving” and I said yes? She told me couldn’t make me another one because the first one had too much alcohol on it. I didn’t quite understand this logic and asked for Hal(manager) who unfortunately had left just a few minutes after we got there. This obviously lead to some heated dialogue between her and I. It really just rubbed me the wrong way. I’ve been coming here for 6+ years and never had an issue with the staff or the food. I’ve also never had a bartender tell me they couldn’t make me another cocktail because the first one had too much alcohol in it.. Sucks that this happened.
On a positive note: Hal’s Bar & Grill is a great place with good food and vibes. I encourage anyone who hasn’t been here to come give it a shot.

Went there for the first time on 9/16/2025 and I have to say, this place is fantastic! Servers were fast and friendly, and the food we ordered came very quickly. Portions are generous, especially the appetizers. We were only in the restaurant for about 1 minute and were already seated and had drinks on the table. Hal himself (owner) even refilled my drink for me! We will definitely visit again, and this place is our new favorite.

First time here. Do yourself a favor and just go! Food menu is not what I expected and my Shrimp Tacos were amazing. Not typical bar food. STAFF EXCELLENT! Large selection of beer and spirts. Also check out the Bottle Shop. 5++++ STARS
Hal's is one of the best places to eat in the North Hills. It's a sports bar and grill, but the menu is totally unexpected. Sure, you can get wings and pizza and other pub fare. But there are also amazing dishes like the Short Rib Gnocci, Meatloaf Cupcakes, Grilled Lamb Chops, Pork Osso Buco, and Chicken Pesto Linguine. Their Half Chicken is out of this world. The servers are wonderful and everyone is always having a great time at Hal's!

Wings and other food were fantastic. Good menu selections. Service was good and nothing to complain about with the atmosphere. Only reason for -1 star is the service and food were almost too quick. We weren’t one bite into our salads we asked for first by the time our entrees were being put on the table. Felt rushed.

One person in our party of four ordered the salmon. The salmon itself was over cooked. To fix the issue the server took the salmon off the plate and about 10 minutes later brought a new piece of salmon back. At this point the rice and broccoli are cold. Just felt as if you are going to remake the salmon you should remake the entire plate, 🤔 maybe my thinking is wrong.

This place is ridiculous!!! The food is amazing. You order a steak salad anywhere else and tell me where the steak is, not here. Fish tacos, on point. Waitstaff is prompt, and very polite, more than I can say about most Pittsburgh establishments. Hal's sets the bar very high for dining anywhere close to North Hills!!! Anna took care of us, and we'll be back for sure. I should have taken my wife the first time she ever mentioned wanting to try Hal's!
