Local bar near U of Pitt and my son and I stopped in here for dinner while we were visiting the university. They ID you as you walk in, and at first I didn't think they were going to allow us in given my son was not 21, but they ultimately sat us. Primarily college kids hanging here. Food was ok and about what I would expect for a bar. Portion sizes are huge and prices are good for the amount of food you do get. Service was generally good throughout our meal and refills were attended too quickly. The amount of sour cream you get with the Pierogi's isn't really enough for the amount of Pierogi's, so I asked for more sour cream, which they do charge for.

First things first, this is a college dive. However, it is THE quintessential Oakland bar. All the other originals have closed. Stay strong Hems! Never shut down!If you want a quiter experience, go mid/late afternoon right after work hours. Usually will just be a few Pitt staff and students hanging out before things get busier and louder later in the night.Great beer selection, go to app order is totchos.

Cheapest drinks you will find at Pitt. A little watered down but for the price amazing

the rum and coke pitcher is not only watered down, but half of it is ice, and they put gummy worms in it. i suspect all of the beverages here are like this but i did not give them the chance.

Maybe one of the last establishments still around in Oakland that most students and alumni have been two in the past few decades. Came here on a game day and you could hear the nostalgia all around. On top of preserving memories, they have a solid beer selection with a handful of local and craft options. It's the kind of place where everybody hangs out. Most people were in Pitt gear but there was an eclectic group ranging from a wedding party to a group that just finished a construction shift. Lots of TVs and drink specials.

Best college bar for Pitt students, but also a great place to grab a bite or watch a game... They just events throughout the week like trivia nights... Have a fantastic drink menu with anything you can think of, plus local on tap and themed shot pitchers which are a mustParking: There is some street parking in the general area but hard to find, but usually free after 5 or 6pm... There is a parking garage a few blocks up the streetKid-friendliness: It would be fine for a meal during the day or maybe early evening, but definitely not towards the night as it is a bar heavily frequented by college studentsWheelchair accessibility: It would be hard to navigate a wheelchair as the door entrance is narrow and there is a step down to the bathroom in the back

Casual university crowd with wonderful cheap eats. This is a no frills bar/restaurant that pulls in the nearby university crowd. Food is decent and abundant. I got the tots loaded with pulled pork and it was definitely a dish to be shared! The service is good as friendly.

Bouncers here are racist and don't support LGBTQ folks. Terrible place.

Before Covid we use to come for the brunch buffet very often and had good experience every the time . October 8th we broad two teenager boys and were planning to have good meal but ....... it was a big disappointment ! Started with soup - it tasted like coming straight from can and very salty . Meatloaf had wrong taste , look and smell , it had sour (!) taste and bad aftertaste . Chicken Alfredo was ok but it set to long on hot table and lost flavor . Only eatable hot food was mashed potatoes . Salat bar was fresh and ok . I tried to talk to a worker, who introduce him self as a Sheff and he didn't see or taste anything wrong . Wi paid 130 backs for 4 of, vent home disappointed and boys ate chips and salsa in the car .

Move-in weekend for Freshman at Pitt, so the area was packed. Server had a lot of tables to handle by himself, so getting his attention for drink refills and the check was a chore. Everything else was fine.
