We had a great time. The food was yummy! The place was almost empty since we came early. It is really more like a dive bar iin appearance, but that is overcone by the good Hungarian food! We had fun talking with the couple that run the place. The wife, Judy, waited on us and was a hoot! She was so friendly and funny, we did a lot of kidding with her. The husband does the cooking and, since he isn't too comfortable with English, he didnt say as much, but the twinkle in his eyes spoke volumes! We felt like part of the family by the time we left. I had the Chicken Paprikas, and it had homemade (spaetzle-like) pasta and a delicious paprika cream sauce with tender chunks of chicken. Judy said they were out of lettuce, so no salads were available. We also had a delicious dessert... a crepe filled with walnuts, apricot jam, a hint of rum and drizzled with chocolate. A perfect ending!
Huszar is not fancy, but the food is authentic and delicious. It's also an outstanding value considering the quality of the food and the price.
Always a great meal at Huszar! The food is top notch and the owners are fantastic. This has become our go to spot for family gatherings and out of town guests. Would an absolutely recommend!
I can’t even describe the joy I felt when I discovered a Hungarian restaurant in Pittsburgh. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, and the food was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for proper, healthy, and delicious food. 10/10.
Important: Parking is available in front of and behind the restaurant, free of charge for up to 2 hours.

Drove 30 minutes only to be told they were “closed” at 6:15 pm on a Sunday. The listed closing time was 7 pm.

WARNING: make sure you call first to see if they’re actually open. Two times we tried going during times they were supposed to be open only to get there to find they were not. Even the hours they have posted right at their entrance said they were open but the metal exterior door was down, lights off, and no one answered the phone. Ridiculous for a business to have unpredictable days they’re open. Don’t chance it, call first.
Randomly closed today, despite sign saying they should be open until 7pm. (It's 4pm)
Absolutely outstanding restaurant. If you're looking for exceptional food and a real mom and pop restaurant treat, this is the place to go. You don't see a lot of these types of restaurants anymore. You don't have to have grown up with Hungarian food to feel at home eating this kind of cuisine. So delicious and comforting. The chicken paprikas and Magyar schnitzel were the best!
Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! Incredible (not-so) hidden gem here in Pittsburgh! The owners are extremely proud of their culture and history and all that love and pride reflects in the amazing food they serve! The red pepper sauce is incredibly flavorful as are all the other dishes! Must recommend for everyone visiting!
